Description:

Lead Behavioral Health Excellence

Samaritan Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead our Mental Health Unit (MHU). As a key member of the Behavioral Health Leadership Team, you will oversee the daily operations, quality outcomes, staff development, and regulatory compliance of the unit while fostering a culture of patient-centered care and clinical excellence.

This leadership role is ideal for an RN with behavioral health and management experience who is passionate about improving patient outcomes and empowering nursing teams.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Mental Health Unit.

  • Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care.

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, employee engagement, performance management, and professional development.

  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and retain nursing and support staff.

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and monitor clinical outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards.

  • Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and senior leadership to support patient care goals.

  • Develop departmental plans, manage resources, and support strategic organizational priorities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State or eligibility to obtain licensure.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • Progressive nursing leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Strong communication, team-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

  • Behavioral Health, Psychiatric Nursing, or Mental Health Unit leadership experience.

  • Previous experience managing inpatient clinical operations.

  • Relevant leadership certifications and specialty credentials.

Compensation

Pay Range: $50.85 - $76.30 per hour equivalent

Compensation is based on experience, education, skills, and qualifications. As an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), pay will be provided as a salary equivalent within the stated range. Compensation may vary based on experience and internal equity considerations.
