The St. Louis Boeing Material and Process Technology organization is seeking an Engineering Manager – Weapons Programs to join our team in St. Charles, Missouri.

The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers responsible for providing Materials & Process Engineering (M&PE) support (Metals, Finishes/Coatings, Electrical) and Equipment/Reliability Engineering support for multiple Weapons Programs (eg SDB, Harpoon, SLAM-ER, JDAM). The team is responsible for supporting design engineering, supply chain, system safety, quality, and the production line.

Primary manager responsibilities will be focused on employee development, ensuring technical excellence, engaging with the program leadership and chief engineers to assign responsibilities and prioritize work.  Strong customer focus and project management skills are required as this team is supporting all site programs and projects that have senior leadership attention.

This position is contingent upon a proprietary program award.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages/lead multiple skills employees performing M&P and Equipment engineering (MR&D) activities

  • Provide oversight and leadership to support the development of right-sized equipment technologies, improved assembly processes and transition into production

  • Partners with program and engineering leadership to establish technical strategies

  • Partners with program and engineering leadership to develop and execute technical strategies, business plans, & policies and procedures.

  • Staff, direct, and advise individuals to meet program requirements

  • Lead NOE investigations and drive lasting corrective actions both internally and throughout the supply base

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

  • When required, leads the creation of requests for variance (RFV’s) through direct customer interaction and coordination

  • Manage overhead & direct budgets

  • Executes capital projects, from forecasting budget through implementation

  • Engage and develop team members in technical leadership and professional development

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees to align the skills of the organization with stakeholders’/customers’ current and anticipated needs

  • Promote collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries to include other M&PE and MR&D organizations

  • Strong organizational and communication skills particularly involving complex issues that have broad applicability and impact to the production systems

  • Partners with contracts, supplier management, quality, and engineering to ensure that technical requirements are being met.

  • Provide technical support to at risk suppliers and develop mitigation strategies.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or electrical/ instrumentation engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • MBA or equivalent

  • Experience leading and/or managing a technical team

  • Experience in leading and/or managing complex projects

  • Experience with materials and processes engineering

  • Experience working on a weapons program

Summary Pay Range (K-Level): $141,100 - $190,900
