We’re building something exciting in Kraków — a new Integrated Delivery Solutions team (IDS) and we are looking for a Civil Engineer Projektant/ Projektantka Budownictwa Lądowego.

The selected candidate will be employed by Critical Mission Services Sp. z o.o., part of Amentum.

About the Role
The Civil Engineer will support Amentum’s Integrated Delivery Solutions (IDS) team in delivering civil engineering solutions for complex and highly regulated projects across sectors such as defence, industrial, energy, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for leading civil design tasks, preparing and checking technical deliverables, coordinating with multi‑disciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and client governance.

The role requires in‑depth knowledge and experience in civil engineering (e.g., site development, drainage, utilities, earthworks, pavements, roads) and basic knowledge of related disciplines, including geotechnical, structural, environmental, architectural, and MEP interfaces.

Although the role is based in Poland, projects often follow UK, European, US and client-specific standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform civil engineering design for site development, grading and drainage, stormwater management, flood protection, earthworks, terrain modelling, cut-and-fill analysis, underground utilities, access roads, pavements and associated infrastructure

  • Develop and own engineering deliverables such as calculation packages, design reports, feasibility studies, specifications, and drawings (in cooperation with CAD/BIM).

  • Apply and interpret UK and European design standards.

  • Use engineering best practices and insights from internal/external experience to improve design quality, constructability, safety, sustainability, and lifecycle performance.

  • Solve complex engineering problems, evaluating multiple solutions and applying new perspectives while remaining compliant with applicable codes and constraints.

  • Work independently, with minimal guidance, taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and completeness of assigned work packages.

  • Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, MEP, Architecture, Fire, and Environmental disciplines to resolve interfaces and support integrated design delivery.

  • Participate in design reviews, digital model reviews, HAZID workshops, and constructability discussions.

  • Check and review work produced by junior engineers; act as a technical resource and mentor for less-experienced team members.

  • Support stakeholder engagement, responding to Technical Queries (TQs), addressing comments, and contributing to design change control.

  • Provide site/field engineering support (RFIs, design clarifications, review of as‑built information) as required.

  • Support preparation of digital deliverables and coordinate with BIM teams (e.g., reviewing civil models, CDE workflows).

  • Ensure compliance with IDS governance, quality procedures, and document control requirements.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Strong civil engineering knowledge (drainage, utilities, earthworks, roads, grading, SuDS, hydrology/hydraulics).

  • Cross‑Disciplinary Awareness: Understanding of structural, geotechnical, environmental, and MEP considerations and their impact on civil design.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to solve complex problems and evaluate alternative solutions using sound engineering judgment.

  • Independence: Works independently, receives minimal guidance, and is accountable for ongoing work activities.

  • Leadership & Mentoring: Provides guidance to less-experienced engineers; checks deliverables and supports skill development within the team.

  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills for work within multi‑disciplinary and international project environments.

  • Communication: Clear, structured technical writing and confident communication in English and Polish.

  • Quality & Governance: High attention to detail; adherence to standards, safety requirements, and IDS procedures.

  • Digital Proficiency: Comfortable with digital delivery, CAD/BIM coordination, and civil modelling tools.

Qualifications - External

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (MSc/MEng preferred).

  • Significant experience (typically 6+ years) in civil engineering design within infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of UK/European standards

  • Familiarity with US codes is an advantage.

  • Proficiency with relevant tools: Civil 3D, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, QGIS, Navisworks, or equivalent.

  • Experience collaborating within BIM workflows (Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, CDE platforms).

  • Experience preparing calculation packages suitable for independent check.

  • Experience across multiple design stages (concept, scheme, detailed design) and supporting construction.

  • Fluent written and spoken English (B2+)
