As an Instrument Technician at our Knorr factory, you are responsible for installation, calibration, troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assemblies and systems.  Work also includes high speed production monitoring and controls, VFD’s, PLC’s, Motion Systems, Vision Systems and related components.   

What You'll Do

  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics, P&IDs, control drawings, and equipment documentation to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions. 
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, controls, instrumentation, and mechanical issues on manufacturing and utility systems to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. 

  • Demonstrate strong electrical troubleshooting skills with systems ranging from 24VDC to 480VAC, including motors, motor controls, VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors, and power distribution equipment. 

  • Utilize diagnostic and test equipment including multimeters, loop calibrators, power supplies, process simulators, and other specialized instrumentation to support maintenance activities. 

  • Install, configure, commission, and validate electrical and control systems to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and within specified performance requirements. 

  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial instrumentation including pressure, flow, level, temperature, pH, conductivity, and other process measurement devices. 

  • Identify control system, instrumentation, and equipment performance issues; isolate faults and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurring failures. 

  • Support continuous improvement, reliability, and productivity initiatives through root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and process optimization efforts. 

  • Maintain compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance and engineering activities. 

  • Document repairs, modifications, and calibration activities in CMMS and maintenance records as required. 

  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve equipment performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. 

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical training, or equivalent technical experience, or military technical training is required 

  • Controls and Automation experience is mandatory. 

  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMI/SCADA systems, industrial networking, instrumentation, and automated manufacturing equipment preferred. 

  • Experience in food, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or other highly automated manufacturing environments is strongly preferred. 

  • Must possess Strong critical & analytical thinking, troubleshooting and problema solving skills, Strong analog, digital, and mechanical skills 

  • Experience using voltaje and current meters, current generators, hand and small power tools 

  • Ability to work at heights and in confined space. 

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations. 

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
