Logistics Analyst – Financial Support & Cargo Claims

Position Summary: The Logistics Analyst manages the auditing, payment integrity, and continuous improvement of freight billing, final mile delivery charges, and cargo claims. This role leverages data analytics to drive cost accuracy, improve operational efficiency, and maximize claims recovery.
  Major Responsibilities:  Freight & Final Mile Audit
•    Audit delivery charges: Verify final mile delivery invoices against proofs of delivery (POD) and service level agreements.
•    Maintain pricing models: Ensure carrier rate updates are accurately reflected in payment systems to prevent billing exceptions.
•    Resolve payment exceptions: Perform root-cause analysis on billing errors and audit failures, collaborating with internal teams and carriers to resolve issues quickly.
Claims Management & Data Analytics
•    Track cargo claims: Monitor and report on open claims, aging, recovery rates, and denial ratios.
•    Identify loss trends: Analyze historical claims data to uncover root causes of recurring cargo damage/loss and escalate findings for corrective action.
•    Manage reporting & KPIs: Extract and clean datasets from internal and external transportation management systems (TMS) to deliver weekly/monthly performance dashboards.
Process Improvement
•    Optimize workflows: Lead initiatives to reduce invoice errors, shorten payment cycle times, and improve claims recovery outcomes.
•    Document processes: Map out current and future-state workflows to support system updates and team training.
•    Standard operations: Handle recurring data-pulling tasks and apply established business rules to daily error management.
  Qualifications:- 1 year comparable work experience- High school diploma or equivalent required- Some college preferred- Fundamental understanding of transportation, supply chain and logistics concepts- Strong written and oral communication skills- Strong problem solving and time management skills required- Ability to work effectively in a team environment- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision- Candidate must possess strong computer skills to include: Access, Excel, Microsoft Word- Consistently demonstrates proven ability to learn and use necessary tools- Ability to follows process and standard procedures- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
