The position will be responsible to lead the plant's reactive maintenance organization, ensuring safe and rapid restoration of equipment, minimizing unplanned downtime, and driving continuous improvement through disciplined failure capture, root-cause escalation, and coordination with the proactive maintenance program. As a key member of the plant leadership team, this role is accountable for maintenance execution, workforce leadership, CMMS discipline, equipment availability, and the transition from firefighting to reliability-focused operations.

 

Mission

  • Lead the reactive maintenance stream and breakdown response process.

  • Restore equipment safely and efficiently while reducing unplanned downtime.

  • Ensure all failures are captured, analyzed, and handed off for permanent corrective action

Core Responsibilities

  • Own breakdown response and prioritization based on safety, environmental risk, and production impact.

  • Lead maintenance superintendents, shift coverage, and break-fix teams across all operating areas.

  • Drive safe maintenance execution through LOTO, permitting, compliance, and quality verification.

  • Ensure every reactive work order is documented in eMaint with accurate labor, parts, and failure-code data.

  • Partner with Reliability Engineering and Planned Maintenance to convert chronic failures into preventive and corrective work.

  • Manage emergency spare parts requirements and collaborate with the storeroom on critical inventory risks.

  • Coordinate repair priorities and downtime windows with Operations leadership.

  • Develop team capability through coaching, training, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Support capital planning, equipment reliability improvements, and plant OEE initiatives.

  • Promote predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, TPM principles, and continuous improvement.

  • Failure code capture compliance

  • Maintenance safety performance

You have: (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Engineering, business or a related field.
  • 10+ years minimum of maintenance experience with a strong technical background
  • Experience leading unionized maintenance organizations preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance systems, reliability practices, CMMS utilization, and root cause analysis.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MBA or equivalent from an accredited university
  • 10-15 years of maintenance experience with a strong technical background
  • Aluminum extruding experience.
  • Supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment 
  • Experience in using an ERP database, Oracle experience is preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge of Extrusion and Casting processes and standard practices with experience in various technical assignments
  • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt Certified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of people skills to motivate and influence stakeholders and employees.
  • Thorough understanding of Maintenance and Engineering practices
