Opportunity
- Lead and build a high-performing GIS Steel Structural Engineering team within Hitachi Energy's Indian Operations Centre (INOPC). Play a key role in establishing INOPC as a global center of excellence for GIS structural engineering, supporting the Switzerland GIS Production Unit. Drive engineering strategy, innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across global projects. How You'll Make an Impact
- Lead a team of Project Lead Engineers to successfully execute GIS customer projects in partnership with Swiss engineering teams and Technical Project Managers.
- Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of structural engineering designs, calculations, detailing, and project documentation.
- Provide technical leadership by resolving engineering challenges, supporting R&D activities, and managing customer and site-related escalations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma (L6S) methodologies and collaborate with quality teams to identify and implement root-cause solutions.
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management to build world-class engineering expertise.
- Implement business unit strategies and foster collaboration across global teams while promoting safety, quality, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Your Background
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with 10-15 years of experience in steel structural engineering, preferably in GIS or substation projects.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects in a global environment.
- Strong expertise in structural analysis, steel design, Finite Element Modeling (FEM), detailing, fabrication support, and international engineering codes and standards (Euro and American codes).
- Advanced proficiency in STAAD, Idea StatiCA, and ETABS; knowledge of ANSYS and Tekla or other 3D modeling tools is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, cross-cultural collaboration, strategic thinking, coaching, and people management skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, process improvement methodologies, and tools such as Adonis, xECM, and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of GIS/electrical substations and structural requirements is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally based on project or operating unit requirements
