The National Merchandising Team has an opening for a Department Specialist. This position will be located near a division or corporate office. The Department Specialist will complete a variety of specialized duties that support the National Category Directors and Assistant Category Managers.
Main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the national merchandising team including the National Category Directors, Assistant
- Category Managers, Financial Analysts and others on key initiatives to drive the categories and overall business forward.
- Assist in data analysis within the categories responsible for to identify opportunities and trends within the categories and help identify possible solutions and actions needed.
- Participate in on going vendor meetings/negotiations as required
- Timely communication with our vendor partners, national merchandising team, and division teams to help ensure all business needs are met, and issues are researched and resolved in a timely manner
- Accurate and timely data entry for business essential needs and tasks
- Create and maintain complex records and files and search and investigate information found within files
- Ongoing maintenance of monthly and seasonal documents, programs, and systems
- Post records and processes departmental documents requiring specific knowledge of functional area
- Lead the set-up process of new items and vendors across all divisions and supplier partners.
- Work thru schematic issue lists with vendors, warehouse buyers, category managers, and division teams
- Assist in billing national programs on a quarterly and annual basis
- Sort files and maintain invoices, receipts, contracts, or other department documents
- Perform other related duties as assigned which may include duties specific to assigned department and categories
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
- High school graduate or higher. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Albertsons and Safeway merchandising systems preferred.
- Strong operational insurance and safety program design and implementation skills and background.
- Strong project design and project management/execution skills.
- Strong project team development and communications skills, including large group presentation capabilities.
Physical Environment:
- Up to 5% travel required; local and long-distance travel as needed.
- Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
- Working location is a hybrid model of in office and at homework
- Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
