Position Summary
The Readiness Team Associate will provide junior-level technical and administrative readiness support to the Y-12 Readiness Assurance organization. This role assists readiness teams with evidence collection, documentation reviews, tracking, coordination, and other activities supporting startup and operational readiness.
The position is designed for candidates with awareness of DOE readiness reviews and either less than 2 years of related experience or an associate degree in a technical or similar field.
Responsibilities
- Assist readiness team members and leaders with DOE readiness review support activities for assigned Y-12 projects.
- Collect, organize, and track readiness evidence, documentation, review comments, action items, and supporting records.
- Support initial reviews of readiness artifacts for completeness, formatting, traceability, and alignment with direction from readiness team leadership.
- Help maintain readiness review records, evidence matrices, issue logs, meeting materials, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with technical personnel to obtain requested evidence, clarify documentation needs, and support readiness team workflow.
- Develop practical familiarity with DOE readiness reviews, readiness assurance practices, Y-12 procedures, and applicable nuclear facility readiness requirements.
- Comply with Y-12/CNS quality, security, information protection, safety, training, badging, and conduct of operations requirements.

- Awareness of DOE readiness reviews.
- Less than 2 years of related experience or an associate degree in a technical or similar field.
- Ability to support document control, evidence tracking, technical coordination, and readiness review team activities.
- U.S. citizen with an active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- Ability to support Y-12 National Security Complex readiness assurance activities for projects subject to DOE Order 425.1D.
- Ability to collect, organize, evaluate, and defend technical evidence demonstrating that operational readiness requirements have been met.
- Technical familiarity with engineering, nuclear operations, nuclear safety, and startup/readiness issues associated with nuclear facility operations.
- Basic understanding of DOE Order 420.1C, DOE Order 425.1D, DOE Order 413.3B, DOE Standard 3006-2010, DOE-HDBK-3012-2003, and applicable readiness review practices.
- Ability to comply with CNS/Y-12 quality, security, conduct of operations, worker safety and health, information protection, badging, and site-specific training requirements.
- Ability to complete required GET, web-based, and on-site training prior to performing on-site work and throughout the assignment as directed by the STR/Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in engineering, operations, nuclear technology, safety, quality, training, project controls, document control, or a similar technical discipline.
- Experience supporting technical teams in a DOE, nuclear, engineering, environmental, manufacturing, operations, or regulated facility environment.
- Experience supporting Y-12, CNS, DOE, NNSA, or comparable highly regulated nuclear facility projects.
- Experience handling or working around UCNI, OUO, or CUI information in accordance with applicable information protection requirements.
- Experience working with STR/Manager direction, contractor assurance processes, readiness review evidence packages, and cross-functional technical teams.
- Local to Oak Ridge or able to support an approved telework and travel arrangement after initial training and STR/Manager approval.
Education and Experience
Awareness of DOE readiness reviews and either less than 2 years of related experience or an associate degree in a technical or similar field.
