Job Description Summary

The Engineer, Blades Fleet Engineering, will support the team in delivering fleet performance management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for wind turbine blades for GE Vernova’s Wind Energy business. This role is responsible for executing technical tasks, analyzing blade performance data, and assisting in the resolution of field issues under the guidance of Lead/Senior Engineers. You will contribute to the closed-loop learning process that ensures the reliability and performance of our global wind blade fleet.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • RCA Support & Execution: Support the RCA process for blade technical issues, from initial data collection to assisting in the validation of corrective actions. Ensure robust and accurate technical documentation.
  • Fleet Data Monitoring: Assist in monitoring fleet performance for assigned blade populations. Help identify early patterns or trends on emerging issues under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize analytical tools to process historical failure data. Assist in performing statistical modeling to support root cause identification.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Maintain and update data visualization dashboards for Blade fleet quality KPIs to ensure real-time visibility for the team.
  • Proactive Support: Collaborate with the fleet performance team to gather data on emerging technical issues, helping to characterize trends before they impact fleet availability.
  • Technical Documentation: Draft and assist in the review of technical documentation, including RCA reports, draft TILs (Technical Information Letters), and WDI (Work Directive Instruction) inputs.
  • Action Plan Assistance: Help track and manage action items for identified issues. Coordinate with cross-functional partners to ensure milestones are captured and risks are logged.
  • Tool Utilization: Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 5Why, Fishbone, Factor Tree) in day-to-day work tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar Engineering degree).

Eligibility Requirements

  • Travel: Ability to travel globally (mostly in the US) approximately 10% of the time to support site visits or technical investigations.
  • Required work location is the GE Vernova offices in Greenville, SC

Desired Characteristics

  • 1 years of experience in wind turbine engineering, product management, or quality/reliability engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of blade failure modes, composite materials, and structural load analysis.
  • Data Literacy: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI) and a desire to learn complex fleet data analysis.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to maintain data integrity and project documentation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Enthusiastic about learning structured problem-solving frameworks and applying them to real-world fleet issues.
  • Advanced Degree: Progress toward or completion of a Master’s degree in Engineering is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a globally focused, matrixed organization.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills for global collaboration.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $72,000.00 and $108,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
