Job Description

Summary

Assists IT Quality Assurance in ensuring internal and external customers' requirements are being met by verifying product functionality and performance against product requirements and specifications.  Under general supervision, works on basic to moderately complex projects. Some degree of independence, creativity and latitude is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in the execution and tracking of testing performed on assigned products, including new products and modifications to existing systems.

  • Assists in the development and verification of associated testing documentation including test scripts, test results, and hardware/software installation and set-up instructions.

  • Assists in performing evaluations and audits of software documentation and software processes associated with products under test.

  • Assists in the establishment and maintenance of structured testing methodology and environments.

  • Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software programs.

Education and/or Experience

BS/BA and 4+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Computer Skills

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Professional and NT PC environment. 
  • Hardware and Operating System Knowledge: Supporting products and structures, including computer hardware (e.g., BIOS, RAM, video cards, CD ROMs, hard disks, monitors, etc.), boot disks (autoexec.bat, config.sys, command.com, etc.); drivers (network, CD ROM’s, video, printer, etc.), and memory issues.
  • Quality Assurance Testing Knowledge: Techniques used to test software applications, including test suites and scripts, anomaly reporting, software analysis, and automated software test packages; “black box” and “white box” testing techniques; and software development processes. 3) Database Knowledge: Database structures and sequel query language, including data table information and report analysis.
  • Internet Browser Knowledge: including URLs cached files, downloading programs, and setting browser options. 5) Software Development Knowledge: including structured programming language (Visual Basic, C++, Java, etc.), distributed architectures, and object oriented programming concepts.

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is a full-time non-exempt position requiring one to be able to work overtime from time to time to get the job done. Therefore, one must have the ability to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed at any time to meet the needs of the business. The typical working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel

This position requires no travel; however, attendance may be required at various local conferences and meetings.
