At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Production Technician III to join the Pass and Seymour Team in Concord, NC. The production technician is responsible for keeping stamping presses and associated assembly
lines running properly. This person will use a logical, methodical approach to determine root cause of equipment malfunction and make the necessary repairs. If the repairs go beyond their abilities, they will communicate in detail to engineering, tool room or maintenance and assist with the repairs. This person will also assist supervisors in execution of the production plan.

What Will You Do?

  • Setup, operate & trouble-shoot progressive dies in coil fed presses up to 100 tons.
  • Extensive experience in material handling, strip loading and startup requirements including mechanical & servo feed systems
  • Experience with utilization of press & tool safety systems commonly utilized in progressive die setups
  • Troubleshoot automated equipment. Use mechanical skills and critical thinking to determine root cause of equipment malfunctions.
  • Use a methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Test sensors and other electrical components and replace as needed.
  • Troubleshoot stamping problems
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance functions.
  • Perform die changes and start ups.
  • Determine tooling problems and communicate with tool room to resolve issues.
  • Lead set up techs in the department to ensure process efficiency
  • Utilize 5S, continuous improvement and Lean tools daily to improve the department.
  • Complete quality inspection routines measuring multiple dimensions of stamped parts using manual and electronic measuring equipment

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Prefer degree/certificate from college or technical school.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Very high mechanical aptitude
  • Understanding of PLC controlled equipment 
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro/mechanical assemblies 
  • Ability to use a multimeter to check voltage, resistance and continuity
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues with engineering and maintenance departments
  • Software: ASI System and NCR Database 
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to work overtime when necessary
  • Able to stand the majority of the workday. 
  • Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity required for assembly and operating tools and machines.
  • Ability to safely operate moving equipment properly without risk to self, others and equipment.
  • Ability and applied knowledge of the material handler job description.

 

Personal Protective Equipment Required to be worn:

  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection 
  • Safety Shoes


Certifications Required: Fork-lift Certification.
