ABOUT TRINITY HEALTH LIVONIA HOSPITAL

Trinity Health Livonia Hospital provides comprehensive and compassionate care to the Wayne County community. The facility features a 24-hour emergency department, Level II Trauma Center, inpatient and outpatient surgery, general medicine, imaging services, physical medicine and rehabilitation services, intensive care unit, cancer care, cardiovascular care, senior services and birthing and women’s services.

The 304-bed community hospital was founded and opened by the Felician Sisters in 1959.

POSITION PURPOSE

The President, Acute Hospital Operations Livonia Hospital is responsible and accountable for executive leadership and overall operational performance of a Health Ministry (HM) within the regional operating structure. Serves as a senior operational leader for the hospital, translating regional strategy into consistent operational excellence, achievement of performance goals, and delivery of high quality, safe patient care. As a member of the regional executive team, actively engages in the development and execution of strategies that enhance Trinity Health’s impact with its market area.

Accountable for hospital operations including operational efficiency, labor cost management, patient access and throughput, capacity optimization, productivity, facilities performance, supply chain effectiveness, and service line enablement. Leads the execution of major operational initiatives and continuous process improvement efforts that improve quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, financial performance, and organizational sustainability.

Fosters an environment that promotes excellence in care delivery and operational execution within a variety of delivery settings. As the HM executive leader, provides leadership and guidance to the RHM senior leadership team, enabling collaborative planning, innovation and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cultural Alignment: Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health mission, vision, and values in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.

Health Ministry (HM) Direction: Translates regional strategy into consistent operational excellence for aligned hospital. Drive operational efficiency and labor cost management. Implement process improvement and throughput initiatives. Execution of major operational programs (access, capacity, supply chain, productivity, facilities, and service line enablement through facility optimization).

Executive Leadership: Responsible and accountable for senior leadership and directly supervises HM senior management team ensuring the achievement of financial, operational and strategic plans with a focus on excellence in personalized care in a variety of delivery settings. Champions change, operational improvement and growth initiatives - seeks out and employs effective change management and performance improvement techniques and tools.

 Health Ministry (HM) Accountability and Responsibility: HM President Acute Operations report to and are accountable to the Regional President and CEO. HM President Acute Operations are accountable for the selection, evaluation and overall success of the senior leadership team within assigned HM.

Clinical Delivery: Facilitates the development and implementation of integrated clinical service delivery platforms within assigned HM and ensures integration and alignment within the region.  Champions physician alignment strategies that lead to growth within the HM and regional affiliations. Ensures the coordination of actions and realization of service efficiencies that drive increased quality and responsiveness to marketplace needs.

Talent Development: Mentors and develops the HM senior leadership team, fostering achievement of goals and objectives, high performing leadership practices, collaboration, innovation, and interdependence. Participates in regional succession planning and supports talent development initiatives within the region. Employs participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources and talent effectiveness and organizational learning.

Community: Leads applicable governance process and works with community leaders to advance the mission of the hospital’s strategic and philanthropic plans. Actively participates in associations and groups within the region. Establishes and maintains relationships with key community and state leaders to facilitate the accomplishment of regional and system goals and objectives.

Regulatory and Compliance: Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, standards of conduct, ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a thorough knowledge of healthcare management principles and techniques as normally obtained through a Master's Degree in Health Administration or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of management experience, to include but not limited to experience as the Chief Operating Officer and/or President/Chief Executive Officer of an integrated health care entity.  

Advanced business and executive leadership skills to develop new or enhance existing clinical and operational strategies, business plans, policies and programs.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of current health care trends and practices.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and business acumen.

Must be able to operate effectively in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Ability to identify, create and foster an organizational culture that is supportive of and builds upon the Trinity Health faith-based traditions and vision for a healing ministry.

Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.
