Temporary Senior Associate - Global Banking Risk Consulting (Risk & Controls)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our rapidly growing Global Banking Risk Consulting Practice, focused on Risk and Controls Consulting. As a Temporary Senior Associate, you will work alongside a diverse, high-performing team serving leading U.S. and global banking institutions. This role offers exposure to complex banking environments, opportunities to develop technical expertise, and the ability to contribute to significant risk and controls initiatives across the financial services industry.

As part of RSM's Process Risk and Controls Consulting practice, you will support the execution of client engagements, evaluate processes and controls, perform testing, identify risk exposures, and assist in developing practical recommendations for remediation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Execute risk and controls consulting engagements for global banking clients.
  • Assess the design and operating effectiveness of business process and operational controls.
  • Perform walkthroughs, document processes, identify risks, and evaluate control environments.
  • Execute testing of key controls and document results in accordance with engagement methodologies.
  • Identify control deficiencies and assist in developing practical remediation recommendations.
  • Review policies, procedures, standards, and supporting documentation to evaluate compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret testing results and assist in communicating findings to engagement teams and client stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported workpapers and client deliverables.
  • Support process improvement, control enhancement, and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engagement teams to meet project objectives and client deadlines.

Client Service

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with client personnel and engagement teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, walkthroughs, and status discussions.
  • Communicate engagement status, risks, observations, and testing results effectively.
  • Contribute to a positive client experience through responsiveness and quality execution.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in audit, internal audit, risk consulting, compliance, or internal controls within financial services or global banking environments.
  • Experience performing risk assessments, control evaluations, and testing activities.
  • Understanding of internal control concepts, risk management frameworks, and banking operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting large U.S. or global banking institutions.
  • Public accounting or professional services experience.
  • Professional certification or progress toward certification such as CPA, CIA, CRCM, CAMS, or similar.
  • Experience with regulatory remediation, internal audit, operational risk, SOX, or risk and control reviews.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Ability to travel based on client and business needs.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $26 - $40 per hour
