Purpose and Mission
-
Responsible for the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of HVAC and utility infrastructure systems within an industrial (steel manufacturing preferred) environment. The role ensures reliable, energy-efficient, and compliant infrastructure solutions supporting plant operations, CAPEX projects, and sustainability targets.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
HVAC & Infrastructure Engineering
- Design, specify, and optimize HVAC systems for industrial applications (production halls, control rooms, substations, technical buildings, etc.)
- Manage utilities including:
- Cooling water systems
- Ventilation & air handling systems
- Compressed air interface (where relevant)
- Heat recovery systems
- Ensure proper climate control for critical equipment and process stability
CAPEX Project Execution
- Lead HVAC and infrastructure scope in CAPEX projects (concept → commissioning)
- Develop technical specifications, layouts, and engineering deliverables
- Support business case preparation (costing, energy savings, ROI drivers)
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure projects are delivered:
- On time
- Within budget
- According to safety and quality standards
Energy Efficiency & Sustainability
- Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives (e.g., heat recovery, optimized ventilation control)
- Contribute to plant energy reduction targets and CO₂ footprint initiatives
- Perform energy analysis and system performance optimization
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Local regulations and safety standards
- Company engineering standards
- Environmental requirements
- Develop and standardize HVAC and infrastructure design guidelines across projects
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS EXPECTED
- Deliver projects on time, within budget and with high quality, ensuring all customer requirements are met.
- Conduct successful validation tests to confirm compliance and reliability, endorsed by infrastructure key leaders and positively evaluated by plant customers.
- Deliver major industrial projects and CAPEX initiatives on time, within budget, and to high quality standards, ensuring compliance, process optimization, and consistent deployment of best practices across all plants
Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Industrial HVAC system design
- Cooling and ventilation systems in heavy industry.
- Heat load calculations and system sizing
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and international environment.
- Results-driven with strong ownership.
- Frequency travelling is required.
Previous Experience
- Min 3 years of experience in HVAC and infrastructure engineering.
- Strong preference for experience in:
- Steel industry or heavy industrial environment
- Manufacturing plants with high thermal loads and harsh conditions
- Experience in CAPEX project execution is a must.
Qualifications and Education
- Bachelor’s or above, in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
