The KYC Operations Manager is an intermediate management-level position responsible for providing leadership and direction to a team providing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, and oversight. The core objective is to manage and develop a dedicated internal Know Your Client (KYC) program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and policy standards. This role is integral to the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, and regulatory reporting framework. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert who operates with a high degree of autonomy, drives process improvements, and ensures the firm's adherence to the highest standards of compliance and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead KYC operations, including executing processes in accordance with Citi compliance policies and overseeing the KYC control environment
  • Oversight and Quality Assurance: Perform comprehensive quality assurance checks on existing processes and recommend enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to manage exceptions and produce detailed Management Information System (MIS) reports.
  • Process and Transformation Leadership: Lead and manage key projects, including the development of project plans, execution of risk analyses, and delivery of weekly progress updates to senior management. Drive transformation initiatives aimed at re-engineering and optimizing KYC processes.
  • AI and Technology Integration: Utilize and promote the use of AI-powered tools and technologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of AML monitoring, data analysis, and KYC operations.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on KYC and AML matters, providing guidance and support to senior stakeholders and junior team members.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Proactively assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Autonomy and Judgment: Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independent judgment and autonomy in decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in KYC/AML process, compliance, operations, risk & control functions but also able to work independently, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across levels, businesses, and geographies
  • Highly motivated, persistent, and able to work in a structured, high volume, time sensitive, high-risk environment
  • Capable of multitasking and eager to learn multiple products in a challenging environment. Fast learner, strong attention to detail, and willingness to go extra mile
  • Proficient in handling urgent and escalation cases and manage internal team expectations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • CAMS Certification preferred
