Our systems are at the heart of every platform transaction, determining earnings and fees and costs dynamically across a global marketplace; understanding and charging tax and crossborder duties while accurately managing returns, refunds, and seller payouts at scale. Each month, we are responsible for billions of dollars in transaction volume, making us one of the most trusted and essential systems in the business.As Whatnot grows rapidly, our team is directly responsible for enabling that growth—by building reliable, scalable infrastructure powering our own and our customers' businesses, and developing innovative ways for users to transact. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.As our next Software Engineer, you should have 3-5 or more years of software development experience building scalable systems that can handle millions of users, plus:You are comfortable with multiple programming languages (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript - knowledge of these in particular not required)Excellent product instincts.
