Job Summary

The Supervisor, Rehab Services is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the rehabilitation services department, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy for children and adults. This role ensures that patient care is delivered safely and effectively, aligned with evidence-based practices, and meets the organization's quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements. The Supervisor collaborates with other departments, leads a team of therapy staff, and participates in process improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and coordinates daily operations of rehabilitation services across diverse patient populations, ensuring appropriate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient needs.
  • Provides clinical expertise and guidance to therapy staff, ensuring care delivery is evidence-based and aligned with the organization's policies and protocols.
  • Monitors and evaluates staff performance, providing regular feedback, coaching, and opportunities for professional development to foster growth and excellence.
  • Oversees the completion and accuracy of patient documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and quality care guidelines.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines, including nursing, physicians, and case management, to develop and implement patient care plans that support optimal rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Leads staff education and competency assessment initiatives to maintain high standards of clinical care, including training on policies, protocols, and equipment use.
  • Maintains department productivity and assists in managing the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Ensures the department is adequately stocked and that equipment is maintained, functional, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, providing leadership, direction, and clinical consultation for complex cases or challenging situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
    • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
    • Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
    • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
    • May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
    • May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in relevant field required
  • 1-2 years of related experience in the profession required
  • 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools. 

Licenses and Certifications

  • PT - Physical Therapist license in the state of employment required or
  • OT - Occupational Therapist – Registered licensed in the state of employment required or
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathologist licensed in the state of employment required or
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure licensed in the state of employment required
  • BLS - Basic Life Support required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support obtained within the first 60 days of employment preferred
  • CRRN - Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse issued by the Association of Rehab preferred
