Business System Director, China

The Business System Director, China is responsible for leading the deployment, governance, and continuous evolution of the company's Business System across China. This role serves as a strategic partner to China leadership teams, driving operational excellence, business transformation, strategy execution, and organizational capability development.

The Director will ensure the Business System becomes the operating framework for achieving sustainable growth, customer satisfaction, productivity improvement, and business performance. Through coaching, leadership development, and hands-on transformation initiatives, the role will strengthen a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across all functions and business units in China.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Lead the deployment and sustainability of the China Business System aligned with global standards and strategic priorities.
• Partner with China leadership teams to translate business strategies into executable initiatives and measurable outcomes.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives on operational excellence, business transformation, and organizational effectiveness.

Business System Governance

• Establish and maintain governance mechanisms that ensure consistent adoption of Business System principles and methodologies.
• Drive strategy deployment processes and performance management systems throughout the organization.
• Monitor business performance through management operating systems, KPIs, visual management, and review cadences.
• Ensure continuous assessment of Business System maturity and capability development.

Business Transformation

• Lead enterprise-wide transformation initiatives focused on growth, productivity, customer experience, quality, and operational performance.
• Identify strategic improvement opportunities and execute cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable business impact.
• Facilitate large-scale business improvement activities including Value Stream Transformation, Daily Management, Problem Solving, and Strategic Kaizen events.

Leadership & Capability Development

• Develop internal Business System practitioners, leaders, and functional champions across China.
• Coach senior leaders on Business System thinking, leadership behaviors, and change management.
• Build organizational capability through structured training, mentoring, and certification programs.

Performance Excellence

• Drive sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
• Promote data-driven decision-making and systematic problem-solving methodologies.
• Ensure best practices are shared and replicated across China operations and functional organizations.

Change Management

• Lead organizational change initiatives associated with business transformation and operational excellence programs.
• Influence stakeholders at all organizational levels to drive adoption and sustainment of new ways of working.
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

• Champion the deployment and evolution of the China Business System.
• Partner with business leaders to identify strategic priorities and improvement opportunities.
• Facilitate strategy deployment and business review processes.
• Lead cross-functional transformation programs and operational excellence initiatives.
• Coach senior leaders and managers on Business System methodologies and leadership behaviors.
• Drive implementation of Daily Management Systems, Visual Management, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement frameworks.
• Establish performance metrics and governance processes to sustain improvements.
• Develop and execute capability-building plans for leaders and Business System practitioners.
• Collaborate with global and regional Business System leaders to ensure alignment and best-practice sharing.
• Enable breakthrough performance improvements through structured problem solving and execution discipline.

How You Will Do It

• Facilitate leadership workshops, transformation reviews, and operating rhythm meetings.
• Build strong partnerships across commercial, operations, supply chain, engineering, quality, HR, and finance functions.

• Ensure sustainability through robust governance, coaching, and measurement systems.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Experience

• 12+ years of experience in Business System, Lean, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, or Business Transformation.
• Proven experience leading enterprise-level transformation initiatives and delivering measurable business results.
• Strong experience working directly with senior leadership teams and executive stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success driving organizational change across complex, matrixed organizations.
• Experience building and leading Business System, Lean, DBS, Fortive Business System, Bosch Business System, JCMS, or equivalent operating systems.
