Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Certified Surgical Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, bringing your certified expertise to keep the operating room organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgical procedures.Every day, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.To be successful in this role, you will need current surgical technology certification, strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.

 

  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
  • Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Ability to provide oncall coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
  • Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case.
  • Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.

 

 

Day to Day duties:

  • Scrub on all cases;
  • GEN, Ortho (trauma/totals/ Sports medicine),  OB/GYN.
  • No dedicated Service line teams. All Associates are cross trained for all services.
  • Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
  • Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.
  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.

4 OR Suites

Approx- 130-200+ cases per month

 

Schedule-40hrs/week-variable shift start time/ Day of week per surgical volume and current unit needs. TBD during interview with OR Manager

Call required- 1-2 weekday/night call shifts and 1x48hr weekend call shift per 4 week schedule.

30 min Callback radius required. 

 

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
  • Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
  • Experience in a specialty field
