About the Role
Uber Direct is our fast growing new business line that focuses on last-mile delivery across all verticals - Online Food Delivery, Grocery, Retail, Ecommerce - empowering merchants to deliver orders generated on their own channels (outside of Uber’s marketplaces) with the most convenient experience. Direct is rapidly growing the ways in which Uber connects the world. Our goal is to set the momentum that will transform Direct into a sizable part of Uber’s business. Uber Direct has the potential to be our next multi-billion dollar business.
We are looking for an S&P Manager for Direct in APAC who has a broad understanding of the business end-to-end and serves as a thought partner to APAC leadership, while reporting to the Global head of S&P for Direct. The S&P Manager must feel confident working with data and conducting advanced analysis to understand the business trajectory and challenges, and to break down complex topics into clear insights and actionables that are reported globally. This role will work cross-functionally with teams across the company, and take the lead on consistently building the strategy and narrative of the Direct business across Uber, as well as reporting to leadership teams on the status of the business (both tactically and strategically). The role will also be responsible for proposing and analyzing strategies and business plans based on the company and different teams’ goals and support the decision-making process by supervising the internal and external environment and acting on specific demands.
What You’ll Do
- Critical thinking: Be a thought and unbiased partner to the Direct APAC leadership team to help them craft the strategy (linking it to Global priorities) and to steer in the right direction, fostering alignment and driving informed decision-making.
- Advanced deep dives: Lead robust deep-dive analysis and provide recommendations on complex topics that are broad in nature (e.g. Profitability for the region, Hyperbatching incubation, new product feature SAM and economics)
- Strategic Ownership: Own the reporting cadence, narrative and materials for Direct in APAC (MBRs, QBRs, Newsletters, etc.), support specific Direct analyses and actively lead and participate in annual strategic planning
- Project/Program Management and Stakeholder Management: Help to bring teams together to ensure critical initiatives in APAC reach the relevant teams. Be a hustling multi-tasker, driving cross-functional groups to discussions and decisions on strategically important questions
- Governance: Develop and coordinate governance and accountability models to ensure that teams are on track to achieve goals and course accurate as needed, including actively tracking OKRs at a global and regional level and ensuring data integrity for it
- Problem Solving & Business Sense: Structure and tackle ambiguous, real-world problems, using Uber’s rich dataset and external data sources and compile findings transforming them into deliverables that local teams can implement
What You’ll Need
- 8+ years of professional work experience in strategy consulting, banking, engineering or similar industries, using data to drive business decisions
- Excellent Analytics and Problem-solving Skills: True owner mentality and passion about solving zero-to-one challenges and standing up new products & revenue streams from scratch
- Critical thinking + Business Understanding: Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution and critical thinking (always asking why). Experience getting in the weeds of data, balanced with the ability to see the big picture

- Communication Skills: Ability to interpret and present data to various audiences (including senior leadership) in an engaging and comprehensive, yet succinct manner
- Teamwork: The nature of the team implies constant collaboration and interaction with cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Product, Marketing, Public Affairs, Legal, Tax, etc.) to ensure we are bringing all available tools to bear on our toughest problems
- Experience working in highly collaborative, matrixed work environments
- Adaptability: Ability to work and efficiently accomplish multiple tasks in parallel, and deliver results in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, while maintaining high-quality work standards
