Microsoft Garage Dublin Lab Manager

IrelandFull-timePosted Aug 5, 2026

Job Description:

At DXC Technology, we deliver innovative technology services that help some of the world's leading organisations transform the way they work. As a trusted technology partner, we're passionate about creating environments where innovation, collaboration and emerging technologies can thrive.

We're looking for a Microsoft Garage Dublin Lab Manager to join our team in Dublin. In this unique, fully onsite role, you'll support the Microsoft Garage managed service, helping create an inspiring innovation space where employees can explore AI, experiment with new technologies and turn ideas into reality through hands-on workshops, hackathons and makerspace activities.

The Microsoft Garage Dublin Lab Manager is a DXC-provided, 100% onsite role supporting the Microsoft Garage managed service in Dublin, Ireland.

This role requires a self-starter and self-learner mindset. The successful candidate should be naturally curious, comfortable exploring new tools independently, and able to turn learning into practical experiences that help others experiment, build confidence, and bring ideas to life.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day readiness, safe operation, and user experience of the Microsoft Garage Dublin lab and makerspace. The Lab Manager supports AI innovation enablement, lab operations, equipment readiness, safety procedures, workshops, demos, hackathons, participant support, and service reporting under Microsoft direction.

As the Garage continues to evolve into an AI-first innovation environment, you will help employees explore AI, automation, low-code/no-code tools, and emerging technologies through practical, hands-on experiences. The ideal candidate is a hands-on maker and visible learner who can help technical and non-technical employees build confidence, experiment safely, and turn early ideas into tangible prototypes or next steps.

This is not an AI engineering role or a software development role. It is a hands-on Lab Manager role with strong interest and practical exposure to AI-enabled innovation, makerspace operations, and workshop support.

Key Responsibilities:

AI-First Innovation Enablement

·       Support responsible, hands-on experimentation with AI, automation, low-code/no-code tools, hardware, software, and emerging technologies.

·       Help employees move from idea to experiment by supporting demos, simple prototypes, proofs of concept, and learning experiences.

·       Translate technical concepts into approachable explanations for employees with different levels of technical confidence.

·       Stay curious and current through practical experimentation, then share relevant learnings through demos, lab activities, or workshop support.

·       Support AI SkillUp and innovation activities as directed by Microsoft Garage leadership.

Lab and Makerspace Operations

·       Maintain daily readiness of the Microsoft Garage Dublin lab, makerspace, tools, equipment, materials, consumables, and shared working areas.

·       Support equipment setup, basic troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, inventory, access, and booking processes.

·       Keep the lab clean, organized, safe, accessible, and ready for planned and spontaneous making activities.

·       Provide equipment induction and safe-use guidance to lab users.

·       Follow Microsoft site processes, safety expectations, EHS guidance, and applicable lab operating procedures.

·       Track lab activity, operational issues, equipment status, consumable needs, and service updates.

Workshop, Event, and Hackathon Support

·       Support preparation and delivery of Garage workshops, demos, hackathons, SkillUp sessions, and community experiences.

·       Coordinate logistics, room/lab setup, equipment readiness, participant support, troubleshooting, and breakdown.

·       Assist Microsoft Garage stakeholders before, during, and after events to ensure smooth onsite execution.

·       Help create or maintain simple workshop materials, instructions, safety guidance, and follow-up resources.

·       Provide hands-on support during Microsoft Hackathon and other key Garage activities.

Maker Mentoring and Community Support

·       Serve as a welcoming, client-facing maker mentor who helps employees safely explore ideas, tools, and prototypes.

·       Encourage a culture of curiosity, inclusive learning, experimentation, and practical problem solving.

·       Connect employees with available tools, resources, experts, and learning paths, under Microsoft direction.

·       Capture and communicate basic stories, prototypes, participation highlights, and outcomes that demonstrate Garage impact.

Reporting, Documentation, and Service Coordination

·       Maintain concise operating documentation, activity records, training materials, and service reporting using Microsoft-approved tools.

·       Coordinate with Microsoft Garage Lead, DXC service leadership, site stakeholders, facilities, EHS, and subject matter experts.

·       Provide timely updates on lab readiness, risks, blockers, upcoming activities, and support needs.

·       Support monthly operational summaries, governance inputs, and other agreed service reporting.

Required Experience and Capabilities:

·       Self-starter and self-learner mindset, with demonstrated curiosity and ability to explore unfamiliar tools, learn independently, and apply learning in practical ways.

·       Experience supporting a lab, makerspace, innovation space, workshop environment, technical learning space, education lab, fab lab, community workshop, or similar hands-on environment.

·       Hands-on experience with making prototyping, technical troubleshooting, or equipment operations. This may include 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics, soldering, microcontrollers, IoT, robotics, CAD, digital fabrication, or similar technologies.

·       Practical exposure to AI, automation, low-code/no-code, Microsoft 365 AI tools, or emerging technologies, with willingness to keep learning.

·       Experience supporting or facilitating workshops, demos, hackathons, training sessions, events, or participatory learning experiences.

·       Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.

·       Strong organization, follow-through, judgment, and ability to balance lab operations, safety, events, and competing priorities.

·       Service-oriented and inclusive approach, with the ability to coach and encourage users without taking ownership of their ideas.

·       Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, software, equipment, and live-event environments, knowing when to resolve, escalate, or seek expertise.

·       Comfortable working with Microsoft 365 collaboration tools and learning agreed operational or project-tracking platforms.

Preferred Experience:

·       Exposure to generative AI, agentic AI concepts, Copilot, Power Platform, APIs, scripting, automation workflows, computer vision, or data-driven prototyping.

·       Experience creating prototypes that combine software, hardware, AI, automation, or physical-world interaction.

·       Experience in a Microsoft, enterprise, startup, university, innovation lab, fab lab, research, or community maker environment.

·       Experience with curriculum support, technical storytelling, community engagement, or content creation.

·       Relevant practical experience or qualifications in engineering, computer science, design, fabrication, education, technology, or a related field.

·       Safety, equipment, facilities, project management, Agile, or process-improvement training or certification.

Working Pattern:
This role is 100% onsite at the Microsoft Garage Dublin location. Physical presence is required to support lab operations, equipment readiness, safety, workshops, events, and participant support. Flexibility may be required during major Garage events, including Hackathon.

Candidate Note:
We value demonstrated capability, curiosity, practical impact, and an inclusive learning mindset. Candidates are not expected to be experts in every listed technology. We are looking for a hands-on learner and maker who can operate the lab safely, support Microsoft Garage experiences, and help employees experiment with AI and emerging technologies in practical ways.
