Job Description

Governance & content lifecycle

• Own the SharePoint Online and OneDrive governance model end to end : creation control, ownership, attestation, inactive-site lifecycle, archiving and storage optimisation.

• Configure, run and continuously tune SharePoint Advanced Management policies (site ownership, attestation, inactive-site, Data Access Governance, restricted access/content discovery).

• Lead remediation of ownerless and inactive sites; design the Microsoft 365 content strategy to control storage cost.

• Eliminate the subsite governance blind spot by driving flat-architecture modernisation (subsite → standalone site + hub).

• Define and maintain the governance operating model, RACI, standards, KPIs and leadership reporting.

Compliance, Purview & records (content management)

• Design and operate Microsoft Purview capabilities for content: retention policies and labels, data lifecycle management, records management and disposition across SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.

• Implement data loss prevention (DLP), sensitivity labels and information protection for content governance.

• Partner with Legal and Compliance on eDiscovery, legal/litigation holds and audit; govern hold intake and attestation cadences.

• Ensure content is Copilot-ready, reduce oversharing, restrict sensitive content, and keep the Microsoft Graph clean and trustworthy. Platform administration & operations

• Act as senior SharePoint / Microsoft 365 administrator: SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and Microsoft 365 Groups, plus Entra ID group governance (creation, naming, expiration, ownerless-group policy).

• Govern permissions, external/guest access and provisioning standards (templates, hubs, naming).

• Handle change, request and incident management for the content estate; safeguard tenant health and security posture.

Development & automation

• Build possible governance automation with Power Platform: Power Automate, Power Apps and Dataverse (e.g., attestation/recertification workflows, governed intake, lifecycle actions, dashboards).

• Script and integrate with PnP PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph API for bulk remediation, reporting and lifecycle automation; build lightweight SPFx or low-code solutions where needed.

Innovation & advisory

• Scout, evaluate and pilot new capabilities - Microsoft 365 roadmap features, SAM, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and third-party tools (e.g., AvePoint, Sharegate) and build the business cases.

• Translate technical reality into leadership-ready proposals, decks and recommendations; advise on build-vs-buy.

• Mentor and upskill admins and site owners; champion governance as an enabler, not a blocker (influence, not authority).

Traits We Believe Make a Strong Candidate

• 9–12 years in Microsoft 365 / SharePoint, including SharePoint Online governance at enterprise scale.

• Deep, hands-on SharePoint Online and SharePoint Advanced Management; strong Entra ID group governance, Teams and OneDrive administration.

• Practical Microsoft Purview expertise for content: retention, DLP, sensitivity labels, records management/disposition and eDiscovery.

• Demonstrable Power Platform build experience (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse) and Power Platform governance.

• Scripting and automation with PnP PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph API.

• Experience with storage/cost optimisation, content lifecycle and archiving in SharePoint.

• Excellent documentation and stakeholder skills : able to explain complex topics in plain English to both engineers and leadership.

• An ownership mindset and bias to automation : you treat the domain as yours, and if it’s repeatable, you script or build it.

• A security- and compliance-first approach, with the curiosity to track the Microsoft roadmap and bring new ideas to the table.

Outstanding Candidates – Good to Have

• Certifications: MS-102 (M365 Administrator Expert), SC-400 (Information Protection & Compliance), PL-600 / PL-400 / PL-900 (Power Platform), MS-700 (Teams).

• Modern SharePoint development (SPFx); ServiceNow integration for governed intake. • Experience with third-party governance/migration tooling (AvePoint, ShareGate, SharePoint Migration Tool).
