Senior Method Development Scientist-Immunochemistry

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Method Development Scientist-Immunochemistry

to join our team in Shanghai, China.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a technical mentor for junior and mid-level staff, providing hands-on guidance in complex experiments.
  • Supports development of training materials or structured learning activities.
  • Assists in identifying technical skill gaps within the team and provides coaching.
  • May coordinate small groups during execution of complex workflows or new method implementation.
  • Independently performs highly complex and non-routine laboratory analyses, including difficult or unstable assays.
  • Executes advanced methods and workflows, including those based on new platforms or technologies.
  • Handles complex sample types, matrices, or analytical challenges with high reliability.
  • Develops, optimizes, and adapts analytical methods for various compounds and biological matrices.
  • Apply scientific principles to design experimental approaches for method improvement and adaptation.
  • Implements and adapts new methodologies or technologies into laboratory workflows.
  • Writes and revises methods, SOPs, and technical documents.
  • Independently leads to resolution of complex, non-routine, or ambiguous technical issues.
  • Designs and perform troubleshooting experiments and identify root causes.
  • Develops practical and scientifically sound solutions for complex assay/system issues.
  • Provides expert-level data interpretation and recommendations.
  • Applies and supports implementation of new analytical platforms or technologies.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to new systems and optimize performance.
  • Contributes to technology transfer and method transfer activities.
  • Trains, mentors, and support junior and mid-level staff in laboratory techniques and troubleshooting.
  • Provides hands-on guidance during complex experiment execution.
  • Acts as a go-to technical resource within the team.
  • Provides input into technical approaches and experimental design discussions.
  • Shares best practices and contributes to improving team technical capability.
  • Collaborates across teams to solve complex scientific problems.
  • Ensures compliance with SOPs, GLP/GCLP, and regulatory standards.
  • Performs QC data review and ensures data integrity.
  • Identifies and escalates risks or deviations and supports CAPA implementation.
  • Identifies and drives improvements in analytical methods, workflows, and lab efficiency.
  • Contributes to enhancing reproducibility, robustness, and data quality.

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, and pharmaceutical analysis.
  • 5 years of experience in large molecule bioanalytical method development. 
  • 3 months or more experience using computer and office software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, MS-Access and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in analytical method development, optimization, and adaptation for complex compounds and biological matrices.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced analytical platforms (e.g., LC-MS/MS, hybrid assays, ligand binding assays, or equivalent technologies).
  • Proven ability to apply and implement new technologies or platforms, including method transfer and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience in resolving complex and non-routine technical challenges, including assay instability, matrix effects, or instrumentation issues.
  • Experience working with challenging sample types or low-abundance analytes.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, or onboarding junior staff in laboratory techniques and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of regulated laboratory environments (GLP, GCP, GCLP) and data integrity requirements.
  • Experience in writing or revising methods, SOPs, and technical documentation.

Additional Job Standards:

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team-based problem solving across functions.
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret complex datasets and provide scientific conclusions.
