The R&D- Color Technician III position is primarily responsible for assisting the Color Formulation Team by preparing, weighing, spraying, and clear coating laboratory paint samples according to specified formulas to meet customer requirements, project requirements, and color lab goals. The R&D Color Technician III is required to master all essential skills of the position to rotate as needed without the loss of performance in any essential area of operations within the color lab. The R&D Color Technician III must also participate individually and /or in group team meetings, training, and other activities that are essential to the attainment of the team, site, and Company goals.

• Support site EHS management by proper compliance with all ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and participate in safety and environmental training programs
• Adherence to all site operation rules and regulations including the use of Personal Protective Equipment
• Operating as a participating team member offering constructive input for continuous improvement and problem solving
• Actively participating in achieving team goals
• Striving continuously for a high standard of housekeeping
• Prepare, label, and organize spray out panels for testing, approvals, and customer presentations
• Maintaining a team first attitude
• Properly handle, label, store, and dispose of hazardous waste materials including but not limited to hardeners, isocyanates, solvent waste, debris, and paint sludge following all company policies and regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate service or repairs when necessary
• Collaborating with R&D Color Formulation, Technical Service, Production, and Quality Teams
• Operate, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on Sheen automatic spray machines, Santint AC100 paint dispensers, Dedoes mixing equipment, Devilbiss paint shakers, Blue M ovens, Spraymation Automatic spray machines, and Sata spray equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized laboratory workspace and manage supply inventories
• Calibrate all spray equipment settings in accordance with internal procedure ITM 184.000 and /or Standard Operating Procedures
• Ability to hand weigh color formulas accurately to .02 grams variance
• Proper and safe operation of metal and cardboard balers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1, etc.)
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to use an air-purifying respirator if needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 1-2 years of coating/color industry experience
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Technical understanding of paint mixing and spray applications
• Basic knowledge of color theory, pigment dispersions, and coatings formulation principles
