Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Responsible Sourcing Manager is responsible for incorporating United's responsible sourcing principles and practices into our day-to-day procurement operations. In this role, you will partner with internal business leaders, affiliate partners, chambers and suppliers to help ensure all qualified suppliers are considered, address barriers to supplier participation, and support compliance with applicable local, federal and international ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) supply chain regulations.
Partner with procurement and business leaders in assigned categories to understand needs, solve challenges, expand supplier consideration and advance responsible sourcing goals.
Use relationships with affiliate partners and chambers to identify potential suppliers and resources, then connect them with the right business teams.
Develop programs, tools and resources that prepare suppliers to compete and help business partners apply responsible sourcing practices in their day-to-day work.
Build and strengthen supplier relationships, including through partner events and industry conferences, while identifying qualified new suppliers who can bring value to assigned categories.
Partner with Government contacts and other stakeholders to support compliance, reporting and continuous improvement for United’s Commercial Subcontracting Plan and applicable ESG supply chain requirements.
NOTE: This position provides a hybrid work arrangement including approximately 50% of time spent working onsite at our Chicago office location and 50% remotely.
Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of related work experience
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Creative thinker with a record of pushing boundaries and trying new things
- Effective listener with ability to consider and incorporate multiple viewpoints
- Strong communication skills and ability to be a persuasive advocate
- Experience working across multiple teams
- Strong, timely communications and feedback
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
Demonstrates an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and effectively leverages them to support research, analysis, content creation, and problem solving. Apply critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs while adhering to organizational policies for responsible AI use, data privacy and security.
We are looking for someone who brings creativity and innovation to the role, with the ability to find new solutions to existing challenges.
The ideal candidate is a connector and influencer who excels at relationship building, networking and bringing people together around shared goals.
This person should also be highly organized and able to build a project from concept through execution.
Procurement experience is appreciated, but not required.
The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
