Position Summary:
WNEP-TV, TEGNA’s ABC affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pa. has an immediate opening for an Executive Producer. The EP oversees all elements of news programs as well as helps inspire and manage a talented, passionate staff. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching strong storytelling for one of the most successful newsrooms in the country. The position requires strong editorial judgement, a strategic mindset, and an aggressive approach to covering breaking news on digital and broadcast platforms. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of leadership and a propensity for taking on and executing big projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Copy edit news stories by reporters, producers and anchors
•    Coach and provide regular feedback for producers and reporters
•    Produce special news events, shows and coverage outside the daily newscasts
•    Assist with hiring newscast producers and associate producers
•    Assist News Director and other leaders in managing day-to-day news operations
•    Manage team of anchors, producers, reporters, meteorologists, photojournalists, digital content producers and editors
•    Regularly critique newscasts with staff, both as a team and with individual producers
•    Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure they meet strategic goals and fit the WNEP brand
•    Manage schedules
•    Participate in daily planning meetings
•    Contribute story ideas for newscasts

Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism preferred
•    3-5 years minimum producing experience
•    Ability to work under extreme pressure and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
•    Strong understanding of AP Style Writing and broadcast production techniques
•    Must be well-versed in local, national, and international news stories
•    Requires someone who can exercise discretion, best judgment, and has solid journalistic/ethical skills
•    Knowledge of Edius, photojournalism, video editing, and content management systems a plus
•    Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
