In this exciting role as a Medical Affairs, Program Director, you will partner with the Enterprise Accounts & Strategic Channels commercial organization to engage with clinical stakeholders from the largest U.S. healthcare systems.  Your responsibilities include developing relationships with senior health system administrative and clinical stakeholders and identifying innovative opportunities and unique clinical strategies leveraging the breadth of Medtronic’s portfolio to deliver unique value and meet shared needs. This role will be accountable for cross-functional teamwork, understanding the value of Medtronic products and services, and assessing and pursuing clinical collaboration and growth opportunities with US health system clinical stakeholders on behalf of Medtronic.

This role will require 50% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life (Responsibilities)

Relationships

  • Establish, cultivate, and expand executive-level relationships with senior clinical and administrative stakeholders within designated U.S. health systems, including C-suite leaders, service line executives, medical directors, and other enterprise decision-makers.

  • Serve as a Medical Affairs partner to clinical customers, shaping strategic engagement opportunities that strengthen Medtronic’s enterprise relationship, advance clinical collaboration, and improve patient access, outcomes, and system-level value.

  • Partner closely with Enterprise Accounts and Strategic Channels leadership to define, influence, and execute account strategies focused on clinical collaboration, patient access, outcomes improvement, and differentiated value creation across the Medtronic portfolio.

  • Build alignment across operating units and functional partners, including marketing, R&D, legal, clinical research, healthcare economics, advisory services, and other teams, to advance enterprise-level initiatives and resolve complex cross-functional dependencies.

  • Develop and lead internal and external stakeholder engagement to articulate integrated clinical and economic value propositions and identify opportunities for scalable, strategic partnership models.

Strategy

  • Assess complex, multi-dimensional challenges facing U.S. hospitals and health systems, including clinical priorities, operational pressures, economic constraints, access barriers, and evolving care delivery models, and translate insights into enterprise clinical engagement strategies.

  • Identify, develop and lead strategic clinical collaboration opportunities that leverage the breadth of Medtronic’s portfolio to improve patient access, outcomes, care efficiency, and economic value for customers and Medtronic.

  • Co-create enterprise account strategies with Enterprise Accounts and Strategic Channels leaders, prioritizing high-impact opportunities, defining success measures, aligning cross-business resources, and establishing action plans that address unique customer needs and organizational objectives.

  • Anticipate strategic risks, identify root causes of complex barriers, and guide cross-functional teams toward practical solutions, clear decision points, and disciplined execution against account-level objectives, timelines, and partnership milestones.

  • Identify opportunities to grow the expertise and value offerings provided by the U.S. Enterprise Accounts Medical Science team. Design and deploy solutions to address opportunities.

Communication

  • Provide subject matter expertise on changing health care dynamics and clinical opportunities with the enterprise-level customer.

  • Develop and deliver high quality, innovative written and verbal briefings and presentations

  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence, maturity, and political sensitivity in written and verbal communications and ability to direct discussions to desired outcomes

Novel Strategies and Creativity

  • Lead and advise on the design of innovative ideas to support Medtronic strategies and coordinate activities to address clinical opportunities and challenges that leverage multiple businesses within enterprise level accounts.

  • Develop innovative clinical partnership models

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant hospital/health system clinical, executive leadership, enterprise account, medical affairs, or healthcare strategy experience (or 8+ years with an advanced degree)

  • 7+  years of managerial experience

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific professional discipline, with demonstrated ability to apply enterprise-level strategic thinking across complex hospital/health industry dynamics, including providers, payors, integrated delivery networks, and evolving models of care.

  • MD, RN, PA, MBA or clinical licensure or designation

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred, with deep knowledge and experience in hospital/health system operations, economics and reimbursement, enterprise strategy development, and value-based care dynamics.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, solve complex and highly interdependent business, clinical, and stakeholder challenges, and develop actionable recommendations that influence senior leaders and cross-functional decision-making.

  • Proven record of developing new, innovative, and scalable approaches to address unmet clinical, operational, access, or economic needs within large health systems or enterprise-level partnerships.

  • High performer in current and previous roles with progressive leadership experience, demonstrated enterprise impact, and ability to influence without direct authority across matrixed organizations.

  • Executive-level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex clinical, economic, and strategic concepts into compelling narratives for senior health system leaders and internal executive stakeholders.

  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to analyze ambiguous, multi-stakeholder challenges, identify root causes, evaluate tradeoffs, and design effective solutions that balance clinical, operational, economic, and strategic priorities.

  • Proven ability to collaborate, influence, and align senior leaders in a health system administration environment, while leading cross-functional teams through complex initiatives with broad organizational impact.

  • Demonstrated creativity and strategic agility, with experience developing novel partnership models, innovative clinical collaboration frameworks, or differentiated approaches that create measurable value for customers and Medtronic.

  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment, with ability to anticipate market, customer, and organizational needs and proactively shape strategy in response.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$220,000.00 - $330,000.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
