Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Activities Assistant to join our team on weekends. Working alongside the Activities Director, you will help create and implement engaging programs that support the physical, emotional, social, and psychosocial well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting individual, small-group, and large-group activities
- Encourage resident participation in activities, hobbies, crafts, games, and special events
- Foster positive communication with residents, families, staff, and visitors
- Assist with the development and implementation of monthly activity calendars
- Maintain attendance records and activity documentation
- Support resident assessments and activity care plans
- Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care team activities as needed
- Assist with coordinating resident transportation for outings, appointments, and activities
- Provide engaging in-room activities for residents who are unable to attend group programs
- Encourage self-directed activities such as reading, crafts, and hobbies
- Assist with quarterly progress notes and assessment documentation as assigned
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and secure Activities Department
- Support quality improvement initiatives and department goals
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One year of experience in a long-term care, healthcare, recreation, or activities setting preferred
- Experience working with seniors is a plus
