Intelligence / Targeting Mission Integrator
The Role
Spear AI is seeking Intelligence / Targeting Mission Integrators to sit at the seam between operational targeting and AI-enabled capability development. You know the Joint Targeting Cycle from the inside — object-based intelligence, target development, target system analysis, collection management — and you can translate that operational reality into workflows, requirements, and user stories that developers can build against. Your job is to spot where operational workflows, data sources, and AI capabilities should connect, then make that integration happen.
This is a small, fast-moving, multi-vendor program. Your operational judgment shapes what we build and how fast it reaches the warfighter. We are filling four of these roles.
About Spear AI
Spear AI is a growing defense-technology company delivering AI/ML software and engineering services built for the hardest national-security problems. Founded by U.S. Navy veterans, we help joint, combatant command, and interagency teams see what’s happening and respond faster — turning data into decisions that matter. As we grow, we’re building a flat, mission-driven culture where your voice reaches leadership and your impact is visible.
Spear AI serves the national security industry and deploys software to cloud environments that span unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret regions. We also deploy software to the edge in some of the harshest conditions on Earth, including U.S. nuclear submarines.
What You’ll Do
• Bring operational targeting expertise to bear across the Joint Targeting Cycle at the CCMD, Joint Staff, SOCOM, or IC level.
• [Priority] Identify integration opportunities between operational workflows, data sources, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• [Priority] Apply advanced, systems-level target development (target system analysis) to shape capability direction.
• Translate operational targeting processes into developer-consumable workflows, requirements, and user stories.
• Communicate architectural tradeoffs, technical risks, integration constraints, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate across operational users, platform owners, and technical development teams.
• Maintain awareness of theater-level targeting coordination across joint and service organizations.
• Work with joint targeting tools, intelligence platforms, and data environments — and their governance and ownership structures.
What We’re Looking For
You have demonstrated operational experience supporting the Joint Targeting Cycle and a deep understanding of intelligence support to targeting. You can move fluidly between the operations floor and the development team, and you know how to turn a targeting problem into something engineers can build. Direct experience in the IC or a CCMD J2 is highly preferred.
Preferred experience - Prior roles in CCMD J2T/J2C/J23, Joint Staff J2, SOCOM, or IC targeting support. - Supporting targeting operations within USINDOPACOM. - Familiarity with weaponeering workflows and target-to-effects integration. - Existing relationships with operational platform or data owners (highly desired). - Supporting DoD software, AI/ML, or operational capability development programs.
Core Team Requirements (All Personnel)
• Active TS/SCI clearance required. TS/SCI with CI Poly preferred where applicable.
• US Citizenship Required.
• Ability to support periodic travel (approximately every 30 days) to CCMDs, service components, operational units, and industry/vendor locations.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, multi-vendor, government-led development environments with evolving priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical developers, operational users, senior leaders, and external vendors.
• Experience in classified operational environments and cross-domain data constraints preferred.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices, rapid capability delivery, and iterative user-feedback cycles preferred.
Compensation
We’re committed to equitable pay and will share a range aligned to your level and geography during the hiring process. In accordance with applicable state law, candidates in jurisdictions such as CA, CO, WA, NY, and others will be provided a good-faith salary range upon request and through the hiring process. This is a full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible for overtime pay. Compensation is provided on a salaried basis and is not subject to reduction based on hours worked.
Benefits
• Unlimited PTO and a supportive, low-ego environment.
• A flat organizational structure — your ideas reach leadership and your impact is visible.
• Mission-driven work that directly supports national security.
