About Broccoli AI

At Broccoli, we're building AI teammates for the people who build and maintain our world.

We partner with plumbing, HVAC, and electrical contractors, the hardworking businesses that keep homes and communities running, and replace fragmented software and repetitive manual work with AI that actually gets the job done.

Our AI teammates answer phones, book appointments, follow up with customers, recover missed revenue, and help contractors deliver exceptional customer experiences, all while integrating seamlessly with platforms like ServiceTitan.

Before we wrote a single line of code, we visited more than 140 contractors to understand how these businesses truly operate. That firsthand experience shaped everything we've built.

Today:

  • Hundreds of contractors rely on Broccoli every day.

  • We've grown to $15M+ ARR in under two years.

  • We're trusted by everyone from independent contractors to some of the largest private equity backed operators in the home services industry.

  • We're backed by Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator.

We're still just getting started.

The role

This is Broccoli's first dedicated finance hire, and the role is two things at once. As our strategic finance leader, you are a thought partner to the executive team: you own the operating plan, the model, and the metrics leadership steers by, and you serve as the finance partner behind our fundraising. As the builder of the function, you stand up finance from the ground up and scale it as the company grows. This is not a reporting role. You shape how the company thinks and where it places its bets, not just how it tracks what happened.

What you'll own

The operating plan. Own the quarterly and annual operating plan end to end. Build the financial model and unit-economics framework it runs on, spanning revenue, headcount, spend, and product lines. Set targets and budgets with each function's leader, and drive the resource allocation and investment decisions the plan commits the company to. This is where company strategy becomes a number each team owns.

Metrics and accountability. Once the plan is set, own performance against it. Define the financial and operational KPIs, build the dashboards, and monitor the metrics and cash flow that matter, surfacing the levers to accelerate growth and efficiency. Run the business reviews where variance against plan turns into decisions, and deliver the reporting and insight leadership acts on.

Strategic finance and fundraising. Own board materials and the model, metrics, and data room behind our raises: ARR, net dollar retention, gross margin by product line, CAC payback, P&L against plan. Own capital strategy and serve as a key partner on future fundraising processes.

The team. You are our first finance hire. Build a scalable finance function for our hypergrowth: decide what it needs (additional accounting or finance hires, for example) and build it. The org, the roles, and the calls are yours.

AI-native financial operations. Build finance to run on automation and clean data, and put AI to work doing the work rather than just reporting on it. We are an AI company, and finance should operate like one.

What you'll bring

  • 8+ years of finance experience, including:

    • 6+ years in strategic finance, corporate finance, or FP&A at high-growth technology companies, ideally having scaled through Series B to Series D and beyond. Bonus if you have owned all of finance at a startup.

    • 2+ years in investment banking, private equity, or venture capital at a top-tier firm.

  • You have run the finance side of a growth-stage raise, building the model and data room and managing diligence, and you know what growth-stage investors demand.

  • Deep SaaS and ARR fluency: you can build an ARR bridge, decompose NRR, model cohort retention, and speak unit economics (CAC payback, LTV:CAC, Rule of 40) as a working language.

  • Expert financial modeling in Excel: you build from scratch, stress-test assumptions, and translate outputs into clear business narratives. SQL or BI tools a plus.

  • Sharp analytical instincts and clear communication: you distill complexity into structured frameworks and recommendations, and bring along leaders who don't report to you.

  • Comfort owning financial integrity and revenue recognition in the interim, with the judgment to hire the right person to take it off your plate.

  • A self-directed builder who designs process where none exists and holds a high bar without being managed to it.
