WTSP, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate serving the Tampa Bay area, is looking for a passionate, creative and driven Photographer to join our award-winning newsroom. We are seeking a visual storyteller who thrives in breaking news, loves finding compelling moments and is committed to producing impactful journalism across broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is more than a skilled photographer—they are a storyteller who understands how powerful video, sound and emotion connect with audiences. You'll work alongside reporters, producers and newsroom leaders to cover everything from major breaking news and severe weather to investigations, enterprise stories, sports and the unique people and places that make Tampa Bay one of the nation's most dynamic communities.
Responsibilities
- Shoot and edit compelling video for daily news coverage and digital platforms.
- Work independently or with reporters to develop strong visual storytelling.
- Respond quickly to breaking news and severe weather while producing accurate, high-quality content under deadline.
- Capture creative video, natural sound and interviews that elevate storytelling.
- Operate live transmission equipment, including bonded cellular technology and other field production tools.
- Produce content for television, streaming, social media and digital platforms.
- Maintain assigned news vehicles and photography equipment.
- Collaborate with newsroom staff to generate story ideas and execute daily editorial priorities.
- Demonstrate sound news judgment, professionalism and strong ethical standards in the field.
Requirements:
- Experience as a television news photographer and editor preferred.
- Strong non-linear editing skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours during breaking news or severe weather.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry professional camera equipment and work in a variety of outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
