The Opportunity 🚀

Carrot is hiring an Associate HR Business Partner to provide operational, front-line HR support across all business units in close alignment with our Strategic HRBPs. As the primary point of contact for core HR intake and manager inquiries, you will manage a wide range of talent activities, including employee relations, performance management, manager coaching, and program execution.

Serving as a key liaison with People Ops, you will drive daily resolution on people matters while using Strategic HRBPs as sounding boards and escalation points for higher-complexity issues.

This role is built for a rising HR professional ready to scale their impact. By gaining exposure to all business units and learning directly from Strategic HRBPs & leaders, you will build the foundation needed to step into a full HRBP role within 1-2 years, complete with direct ownership of a dedicated business unit.

What You’ll Own 💼

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the primary HR intake point across all business units, addressing daily questions on HR policies, programs, and general people matters
  • Coach managers on performance feedback, documentation, recognition, and routine team management conversations
  • Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, internal mobility, and exits, in partnership with HR Operations and Talent Acquisition
  • Assist in triaging and documenting employee relations matters, escalating more complex issues to the HRBPs as appropriate
  • Support managers in navigating attendance, conduct, and performance concerns while maintaining thorough, compliant documentation in partnership with People leadership and Legal
  • Act as the primary bridge between business units and central People Ops to ensure seamless rollout and execution of core HR initiatives
  • Drive support of company-wide people programs, including performance evaluations, calibrations, engagement surveys, and annual compensation reviews
  • Use People data such as headcount, attrition, and engagement trends to support insights, action planning, and continuous process improvement

What Success Looks Like  📈

In your first 12–18 months, you will have:

  • Established yourself as the trusted first point of contact for manager and employee HR questions across all business units
  • Independently resolved the majority of day-to-day people matters, with clear and consistent escalation of complex issues to Strategic HRBPs
  • Built compliant, well-documented employee relations practices in partnership with People leadership and Legal
  • Supported key people projects and programs
  • Improved at least one core HR process using People data, measurably enhancing the manager and employee experience

About You

You likely have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of HR experience, including supporting managers in an HR generalist or HRBP-support capacity
  • Foundational knowledge of employee relations, performance management, coaching, and HR operations
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and comfort working with HR systems and data
  • Knowledge of U.S. employment laws and the ability to work onsite regularly in our Iowa office

Nice to Have

While not required, we would be especially excited if you bring:

  • Experience in a distributed or hybrid workforce
  • Exposure to employee relations case support and documentation
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as ADP, Lattice, Greenhouse, or similar tools
  • International employment law experience or experience partnering with an Employer of Record (EOR)

Why This Role Matters 🧡

Carrot's mission depends on people doing complex, compassionate work at scale, and those people need consistent, responsive HR support to do their best work. This role is the front line of that support. By owning core HR intake and daily manager enablement, you free Strategic HRBPs to focus on high-complexity organizational work while ensuring every employee question gets a timely, high-quality answer.

This role is also a deliberate investment in the future of the People team. The Associate HRBP who succeeds in this seat becomes Carrot's next full HRBP, with a dedicated business unit and the credibility of having supported every corner of the organization.
