Senior Cloud Security Engineer ( Global Security)
Job Description
What is the opportunity?
The AWS Security Controls team within Cloud Security Engineering is working on several exciting initiatives to further secure RBC’s AWS environment. In this role as a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you will develop AWS security controls and drive the development of innovative cloud security solutions to enhance RBC’s Cloud Security posture. You will also contribute to fostering a culture of secure cloud development and practices.
What will you do?
- Build and deploy robust cloud security services using automation, IaC and test-driven development practices.
- Design, implement and deploy AWS security controls using serverless architectures, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation.
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure secure, efficient, and scalable cloud deployments.
- Support cloud security platforms and services and be the subject matter expert for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS implementations.
- Conduct proof of concepts for new AWS-native, open-source, or vendor security solutions.
- Implement SRE practices to enhance operational processes and reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support for critical systems.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 5+ years of cloud engineering experience with demonstrated experience in developing AWS cloud security solutions.
- 5+ years of experience working with AWS security services (AWS GuardDuty, IAM, Security Hub, Control Tower).
- Familiarity with AWS services and serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, DynamoDB).
- Experience with Policy as Code tools such as AWS Config, OPA Gatekeeper, Azure Policy.
- Strong proficiency in Python for developing AWS security solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CFN and CDK.
- Hands-on experience with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or ECS.
- Expertise in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins and AWS Code Pipeline.
- Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices in cloud environments.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Wiz or other cloud security posture management (CSPM) platforms.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, CKA.
- Knowledge of technical security control environments and compliance frameworks including CSA CMM, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and NIST CSF.
- Stay updated with latest security trends & AI technologies.
- Experience using AI Agents and Skills to enhance security operations.
