Director, Strategic Events and Communications - Sales

Manage all logistics and on-site production for events, including oversight of external event production agencies, ensuring seamless execution and a compelling brand presence. Work closely with senior leaders to shape event agendas, content, and presentations that align with corporate strategy. Oversee “run of show” and content creation for key sessions to ensure engaging, aligned messaging that energizes and equips our sales organization. Oversee content strategy and updates on The Source, ensuring that sales teams have up-to-date, easily accessible resources and news (product launch materials, sales playbooks, marketing assets, etc.). Continuously improve the platform's effectiveness in partnership with IT and gather user feedback to enhance engagement. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead a small team of trade communications and event specialists, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management. Serve as a key liaison, ensuring consistent messaging and seamless coordination across the organization's matrix. Vendor Management & Budgeting: Manage all external event production partners and vendors (event management agencies, designers, etc.), providing clear direction and maintaining high quality standards. Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor performance. Develop and control event budgets, demonstrate strong financial stewardship, and deliver impactful events within budget. Track expenditures and metrics to optimize return on investment. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field strongly preferred. 7-10 years of relevant experience in trade communications, event management, marketing communications, or a related function. Proven success in planning and executing large-scale events or trade shows with full accountability for performance outcomes. Leadership & Collaboration: 5+ years of leadership experience (formal or project-based) in a matrix environment. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and cross-functional initiatives, working effectively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders. Experience managing direct reports and influencing without direct authority. Event Production & Communication Skills: Deep knowledge of event production and marketing communications best practices, including venue/vendor management, content and creative development, and on-site logistics coordination. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for developing clear, compelling messages and presentations. Ability to craft engaging event narratives and internal communications that resonate with both external audiences and an internal sales force. Strategic & Organizational Skills: Strategic thinker with experience translating business objectives into event strategies and communication plans. Strong project management skills, able to juggle multiple events/projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Analytical mindset to measure event effectiveness and portal engagement, using insights to drive continuous improvement. Financial & Vendor Management: Proven budget management skills, including planning and managing significant project budgets and partner/vendor contracts. Experience negotiating with and managing external agencies or production partners, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Other Requirements: Ability to travel (~20% of the time) for onsite event execution; comfortable working flexible hours around event schedules. A passion for collaborative leadership and the ability to thrive in a highly matrixed, fast-paced corporate environment.
