About the Role

Carrier is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our engineering team focused on the development of embedded solutions for HVAC equipment controls and intelligent connected products. This role will play a key part in defining system requirements, supporting product development activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and reliable embedded control solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in systems engineering, embedded products, and requirements management, while supporting both new product development and sustaining engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Defining and documenting system and functional requirements for embedded products.

  • Working closely with marketing teams and customers to develop system-level requirements.

  • Supporting product development activities as a Systems Engineer throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Collaborating with hardware, firmware, software, validation, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams.

  • Developing system specifications, verification plans, and validation strategies.

  • Supporting project planning activities, including scope, schedules, resources, and risk assessments.

  • Participating in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities.

  • Contributing to both new product development and sustaining engineering projects.

  • Supporting system architecture definition for new product platforms.

  • Developing system-level test cases and verification plans.

  • Participating in risk identification and mitigation reviews.

  • Supporting technical reviews and ensuring alignment of requirements across stakeholders.

Requirements

We are looking for engineering professionals with experience in embedded systems and systems engineering.

As a minimum you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering supporting embedded products.

  • Experience capturing, documenting, and managing system requirements.

  • Experience working in cross-functional product development environments.

  • Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, JIRA/Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience participating in DFMEA activities.

  • Basic understanding of C and/or C++ programming languages.

  • Knowledge of embedded systems architecture and development processes.

  • Understanding of digital and analog electronic systems.

  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Valid U.S. Visa and ability to travel as required.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

  • Experience with wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Matter (CHIP), or Z-Wave.

  • Understanding of 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers.

  • Experience with control systems or algorithm development.

  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink or LabVIEW.

  • Experience in HVAC controls or HVAC system design.
