Job Description Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer for Performance Upgrades serves as the technical lead for validation methods and execution for performance upgrade products. In this role, you will lead systems engineering New Product Introduction (NPI) deliverables for new PowerUp product launches, including DVR, PVR, and FSVR. You will develop and maintain the methods and tools used to validate performance upgrade products, ensuring validation processes are scalable, technically sound, and reflective of real-world turbine performance. This role includes customer-facing technical representation in product validation discussions, as well as collaboration across product management, engineering, commercial, and regional field teams. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Validation Methodology Ownership: Define, maintain, and continuously improve the validation methodology for performance upgrade products.
  • Tool Development & Maintenance: Be the technical owner of performance upgrade validation tools. Develop, update, and maintain source code to ensure tools remain at the cutting edge of wind turbine analytics.
  • NPI Leadership: Lead systems engineering NPI deliverables for the PowerUp portfolio (DVR, PVR, FSVR), ensuring successful product validation from concept to deployment.
  • Customer Documentation and Interface: Develop and own customer-facing technical documentation related to validation methods, processes, and performance transparency. Represent GE Vernova in customer meetings, technical reviews, and performance upgrade discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, engineering, commercial and regional field teams to align validation approaches with product requirements and site-specific execution.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Apply systems engineering and analytical methods to evaluate product performance, identify gaps, and support continuous improvement.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the wind industry or systems engineering.

Desired Characteristics

  • Deep expertise in wind turbine power performance testing methods (e.g., IEC 61400-12/13).
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical processes into clear, concise documentation for external customers.
  • Demonstrated experience developing engineering tools or software solutions in Python, MATLAB, C++ or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with the New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Technology Introduction (NTI) process.
  • Experience with wind turbine simulation tools and environments such as FLEX5, Bladed, MATLAB, Simpack or Adams.
  • Proven ability to manage technical projects and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
