Security Technical Specialist

Security, a department within Facilities and Operations, is responsible for the safety of persons and the protection of property. Services include day to day systems diagnostics, software assessments, incident response, emergency preparedness, and campus security operations.

Responsibilities
- Manage physical security equipment to ensure all devices are fully operational and end users (security operations, pharmacy, Comparative Medicine, and other support services) are equipped to successfully monitor, mitigate, and investigate risks to Fred Hutch.
- Security point person on all security technical applications: Genetec Access Control and CCTV, Lenel, Avigilon, Omnigo, Blackboard, Simple K
- Systems Administrator to all security software solutions, managing user account accuracy and review of permissions to be in line with Security best practices.
- Business and After-Hours primary responder for onsite technical issues to be handled remotely through troubleshooting and assessing technical needs with communication and action plans to the Senior Global Security Manager.
- Identify and resolve offline equipment and minimize downtime. Involves troubleshooting remotely, physical handling the devices, engaging other on campus resources, and partnering with a vendor until the system is fully restored.
- Respond to critical events as they arise and lead security response by providing in-person situational assessment and management, archiving information during incidents for after action review, and facilitating resources to ensure operational and business continuity.
- Maintain active inventory of all security critical spares, panels, power supplies, card readers, CCTV camera’s and make recommendations to Leadership on findings.
- Utilize advanced security tools and techniques to monitor network traffic, detect security breaches, and respond to incidents in real-time. Investigate security alerts, conduct forensic analysis, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and minimize the impact of security incidents.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements affecting the healthcare industry. Conduct risk assessments, audit security controls, and assist with compliance efforts to ensure adherence to HIPAA, JCAHO, DOH, and other relevant standards.
- Ensure routine maintenance is conducted on physical and technical security systems.
- Continue pursuit of AI and how it can best be leveraged for security work efficiency.
- Assist and backup up day-to-day security operations as needed.
OTHER:
- Respond to campus-wide emergency situations (police, fire, medical, facilities, etc.).
- Partner with security operations team and leadership to ensure the success of department procedures, policies, and goals.
- Review or submit incident reports.
- Assist the Director of General Operational Services when requested for security support and other core business functions as needed.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience with minimum five years’ experience in security, (Healthcare preferred).
- Valid WA driver’s license or ability to obtain same within 3 months of hire.
- Genetec Enterprise Technical Certification (System design and hardening) or able to attain within 1 year of hire.
- CPP, PSP, IAHSS or comparable certifications preferred.
- No criminal record.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity and experience (minimum 5 years) with security access control systems, video/CCTV and incident report computer programs. Includes programming and trouble shooting.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Work with people of diverse backgrounds while maintaining highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $114,941, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
