NewsNation is seeking an experienced Associate Director to support live and pre-recorded productions from our New York Bureau. This role is a critical member of the control room team, responsible for maintaining show timing, managing rundown elements, cueing video, and coordinating closely with Master Control to ensure smooth and accurate broadcasts.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced breaking news environment, communicates clearly under pressure, and works seamlessly with Directors, Producers, and technical teams to keep productions on track.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the Director to execute live and pre-recorded broadcasts.
- Maintain accurate show timing and track all production elements throughout the broadcast.
- Manage video, graphics, and other production assets within newsroom and playout systems.
- Cue and roll video elements using Bit Central and other production systems.
- Coordinate with Master Control regarding commercial breaks, timing adjustments, and live operational changes.
- Work closely with Producers and control room staff to ensure shows remain on schedule.
- Support breaking news coverage by adapting quickly to evolving editorial and operational needs.
- Collaborate with teams in New York, Chicago, and Washington, DC to support network-wide production execution.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a broadcast control room, production environment, or network news operation.
- Experience timing live broadcasts and managing rundown elements.
- Familiarity with newsroom computer systems such as iNews or ENPS.
- Experience with automated production and video playout systems preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and detail-oriented in a fast-paced live production environment.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during major news events.
- DGA membership in good standing required.
Compensation
$65.00-$75.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
