About the team

We expect all Scouts to demonstrate integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, a growth mindset, and a positive attitude. As a Metrology Technician, you will be responsible for performing dimensional inspections, equipment calibration, and measurement system verification to support manufacturing and quality operations. You will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure parts and assemblies meet design intent and GD&T requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, hands-on experience with measurement tools, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and data.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Perform dimensional inspections on parts, assemblies, and fixtures using PCMMs and manual measurement tools  
  • Execute measurement programs and collect accurate data to support production and quality requirements  
  • Assist with calibration, verification, and maintenance of measurement equipment  
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to ensure compliance with design specifications  
  • Record, analyze, and report measurement results, highlighting any deviations or non-conformances  
  • Support root cause analysis activities by providing measurement data and technical input  
  • Maintain measurement equipment and ensure proper handling and storage of precision tools  
  • Follow established metrology procedures and work instructions to ensure consistency and repeatability  
  • Assist in GR&R studies, capability studies, and validation of measurement systems  
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to resolve dimensional issues  
  • Support new product launches by executing measurement plans and inspection activities  
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • Location: Blythewood, South Carolina
  • Attendence: Daily
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of experience in metrology, quality inspection, or manufacturing environment. 
  • Hands-on experience with measurement equipment (Zeiss, GOM 8260 Scan Box, FARO, Leica Tracker, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.). 
  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • Well versed in GD&T and ability to read engineering drawings. 
  • Proficiency with precision measurement equipment, including PCMMs, scan boxes, inline systems, gauges, laser trackers, and portable metrology systems. 
  • Familiarity with calibration processes and measurement system verification. 
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, data entry, reporting tools) 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. 
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally 
  • Well versed in MS Office 

Preferred Qualification 

  • Experience in automotive or electric vehicle manufacturing. 
  • Familiarity with metrology software (PolyWorks or ZeissInspect). 
  • Exposure to SPC, GR&R, and basic quality tools 
  • Technical certification or associate degree in a related field

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a normal schedule of 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the business. As a non-exempt employee, you are eligible for overtime compensation consistent with applicable law and company policies. This position is eligible to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final pay rate offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

  • Competitive hourly wages (dependent on assessed skills and experience): $27.40 - $34.20
  • Earn an additional $0.75/hr. after 6 months.
