Scrum Master & Delivery Lead

Position Summary

Serves a dual role as both Scrum Master and Delivery Lead, responsible for driving execution, delivery governance, and agile team effectiveness across complex technology initiatives. This role partners with Product, Engineering, Business, Architecture, and Portfolio stakeholders to ensure the successful planning, execution, and delivery of strategic capabilities and technology solutions. The individual will facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove delivery impediments, drive team accountability, and manage delivery commitments while also providing end-to-end oversight of project planning, dependency management, financial tracking, risk management, stakeholder communications, and executive reporting. Success in this role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to balance agile team coaching with disciplined delivery management.

Key Responsibilities

Scrum Master Leadership

  • Serve as the Agile servant leader for one or more delivery teams, promoting Agile values, principles, and best practices.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, and Release Planning.
  • Coach teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile frameworks and delivery best practices.
  • Drive team accountability for sprint commitments, predictability, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and remove impediments that impact team productivity and delivery outcomes.
  • Utilize Agile metrics and insights to improve team performance, quality, and flow of work.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to maintain healthy backlogs, prioritization, and sprint readiness.

Delivery Leadership & Program Management

  • Lead the planning and execution of technology initiatives and programs throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery activities to ensure initiatives are completed on time, within budget, and achieve expected business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans, milestones, release schedules, and dependency tracking.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders to proactively identify risks, issues, and resource constraints.
  • Drive mitigation plans and facilitate issue resolution to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Ensure alignment between business priorities, technology roadmaps, and delivery execution plans.
  • Manage cross-functional and cross-portfolio dependencies impacting delivery success.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Leaders, Architects, and Business Owners to ensure delivery objectives are met.

Governance, Financial & Resource Management

  • Support budget planning, financial forecasting, and tracking of initiative expenditures.
  • Monitor resource allocations, team capacity, and delivery forecasts.
  • Prepare executive-level reporting including delivery health, risks, milestones, financial status, and key decisions.
  • Conduct regular delivery reviews with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with portfolio governance, change control, and project management standards.
  • Support annual planning, funding requests, and portfolio prioritization activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading technology delivery initiatives within large, complex IT environments.
  • Experience serving as both a Scrum Master and delivery/project lead on software development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and iterative delivery methodologies.
  • Scrum Certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent).
  • Experience managing risks, dependencies, budgets, and delivery plans.
  • Experience working with cross-functional product and engineering teams.
  • Proficiency with Agile and project management tools including Jira, Rally, Microsoft Project, and related reporting tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and lead across organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of portfolio financial management, forecasting, and business case development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Experience managing technology initiatives with significant cross-team and cross-portfolio dependencies.
  • PMP Certification
  • SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or other Agile certifications.
  • Experience supporting portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and executive governance processes.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$101,970.00 - $203,940.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
