YOUR ROLE
As a Senior Member of Technical Staff in our team, you will architect and implement a Graphics driver for Iris Xe and Mali GPUs on safety critical VxWorks Kernel. This is a unique opportunity to develop GPU drivers organically from scratch on VxWorks. This is a high impact and high visibility role requiring the ideal candidate to work with Intel, ARM and SoC vendors to review technical specifications and implement it for VxWorks.
The GPU driver for VxWorks is targeted for edge markets such as Aerospace & Defense which requires the driver to be certified. The design of the GPU driver must have minimal footprint (code base) to reduce certification costs. This requires the candidate to be super-efficient in designing the driver and conservative in working with open-source libraries such as DRM.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
You will work closely with developers responsible for display drivers and user-space graphics stacks, including Vulkan and OpenGL, who will rely on the GPU access APIs (IOCTLs) you design, maintain, and support. As part of a cross-functional organization, you will also collaborate with Product Owners and engineering teams to translate customer requirements into GPU driver features and enhancements while ensuring seamless integration across the software stack.
In your daily job you will:
Design and implement a minimal GPU driver for VxWorks Operating System.
Import and adapt Linux GPU drivers to VxWorks. Eliminate DRM & Atomic frameworks to enable safety certification for Embedded and Edge markets.
Work with ARM DDK & SoC Vendors such as NXP, Teleologic and Vivante to adapt GPU drivers for VxWorks
Serve as the primary technical focal point for GPU driver for VxWorks
Design and implement graphics features based on product requirements.
Adapt and integrate open-source libraries to support Vulkan SC APIs on VxWorks
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
Conduct detailed design and code reviews, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
Knowledge of GPU architecture.
Required Qualifications
10+ years’ experience with C, C++
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with GPU drivers such as i915, Iris Xe or Mali
Experience with Vulkan or Open GL is preferred
DO178-C certification experience is preferred but not mandatory
Team Player, Positive attitude and Passion for Graphics.
Working in a cross functional organization with developers in different geographies to support driver development.
Comfort with a fast-paced environment and changing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GPU driver development for Linux, RTOS, or embedded platforms.
Knowledge of Vulkan, Vulkan SC, OpenGL, DRM/KMS, or related graphics technologies.
Experience with ARM Mali, Intel Iris Xe, or other modern GPU architectures.
Familiarity with Linux kernel internals, device drivers, and hardware bring-up.
Experience with safety-critical software standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262.
Contributions to open-source graphics, kernel, or embedded software projects are a plus.
BENEFITS
Hybrid work model for workplace flexibility
Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance
Short and long-term disability coverage
RRSP matching for financial security
Flexible time-off policies for work-life balance
Learning benefits, including a LinkedIn Learning subscription and seminars
Compensation
This role is compensation range is between $170,000 to $210,000 CAD plus annual incentive plan bonus. Compensation is determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members.
