Credit Controller

South AfricaFull-timePosted Aug 9, 2026

Sales books the revenue. Credit control makes it real. This role is where promises become cash in the bank.

Job Overview

Our UK-based client is hiring a full-time, remote Credit Controller based in South Africa. You will own the sales ledger: invoicing accuracy, timely collections and customer relationships that survive the money conversation. This is a long-term role on UK business hours.

About Our Client

The client is an established UK business with a healthy book of customers and a firm belief that cash collection is a professional skill, not an awkward afterthought. They want a credit controller who is polite, persistent and impossible to fob off.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the sales ledger and keep customer accounts accurate

- Chase outstanding invoices by phone and email to agreed timelines

- Negotiate payment arrangements that protect both cash and relationships

- Resolve invoice queries and disputes quickly with internal teams

- Allocate receipts and reconcile customer accounts precisely

- Report weekly on aged debt, risks and collection progress

- Escalate genuine risk accounts early with clear evidence

What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day

Your day starts with the aged debt report: who pays today, who needs a call, and which promises are due. You will work the phones with courtesy and firmness, log every commitment, and follow up the moment one slips.

Between calls you will clear query queues, allocate payments, and keep the ledger so clean that month-end holds no surprises. Your aged debt graph will trend one way: down.

This suits a South African professional who is comfortable talking about money - friendly on the surface, structured underneath, and unfailingly professional even with the difficult payers.

If you are based in South Africa with credit control experience and confident spoken English, this is a stable remote role with a UK employer where your impact shows up on the bank statement. Apply today.

Requirements

- 2+ years' experience in credit control or accounts receivable

- Confident, professional spoken English for payment conversations

- Proven reliability: stable fibre internet, backup power for load shedding, and a quiet home office

- Comfortable with tech tools: Xero, Sage or similar, plus Excel or Google Sheets

- Organised and persistent with meticulous promise-tracking

- Firm but fair negotiation style that protects relationships

Benefits

Full-time remote position working for a UK-based employer. Competitive salary paid in ZAR. Long-term stable role. Supportive team environment. Direct access to founder-led business.
