Role Description: 

We are seeking a talented and motivated Solutions Architect to join our Navy team. As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guidance, support, and enablement focused on our products for the Department of the Navy. You will work closely with our Account Executives and technical groups driving towards mission impact, providing technical expertise, proactive assistance, and strategic insights to maximize mission impact. This role is instrumental in ensuring a seamless and successful customer experience throughout the initial engagement and transition to longer-term execution.

Responsibilities: 

  • Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for customers and their technical needs, challenges, and goals throughout the sales cycle
  • Work with a team of account executives and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and support of customer engagements
  • Understand Defense Unicorns' products and philosophy
  • Assist the team in discovery efforts across the DON
  • Assist with demonstration and content creation on products and contract opportunities
  • Manage the "proof of concept" work
  • Build, deploy, test, and troubleshoot Zarf packages, UDS packages, and UDS Bundles,.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for brainstorming, research, and innovative growth strategies
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to growth hacking and user acquisition
  • Experiment with new tools, techniques, and technologies to improve growth outcomes

 

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or solution architecture role, preferably within the defense or federal sector
  • Deep understanding of Department of War operational environments, including familiarity with ATO (Authorization to Operate) processes, RMF compliance, or similar regulatory frameworks
  • Experience conducting technical discovery sessions to identify customer pain points and mapping those requirements to technical architecture
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts (Kubernetes, Helm, Containerization) into value-based messaging for diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of system architecture across both cloud and on-premise environments
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong foundation in continuous delivery and agile principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate, persuade, and negotiate in high-stakes environments
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active security clearance
  • Experience navigating DoW procurement cycles, specifically transitioning prototypes or "Valley of Death" projects into formal Programs of Record
  • Proven track record of conducting high-stakes technical whiteboard sessions, live demonstrations, and product briefings for senior Navy or DoW leadership
  • Experience working with Naval IT environments (e.g., CANES, NGEN, MCEN, or tactical edge platforms)
  • Hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD, or container-based infrastructure (Kubernetes/Helm) in secure/hardened environments

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.
