As a Patient Care Coordinator / Medical Assistant (PCC/MA) in Denver, Colorado, you will play a vital dual role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while providing high-quality clinical support. This cross-trained position combines front office responsibilities with Medical Assistant duties to ensure seamless clinic operations and an outstanding experience for every child and family we serve.

You will serve as a trusted partner to patients, families, providers, and teammates—supporting the patient journey from scheduling and check-in through discharge and follow-up. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a team-first mindset, as responsibilities will shift between front office and clinical support based on daily operational needs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Patient Experience & Front Office 

• Welcome patients and families with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
• Manage patient check-in and check-out processes while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Collect, verify, and update demographic, insurance, and registration information within the EMR.
• Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, referrals, and diagnostic services.
• Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
• Collect copays and process patient payments in accordance with company policies.
• Support patient communication through phone calls, portal messages, appointment reminders, and follow-up outreach.
• Assist with referral coordination, prior authorizations, and medical records requests.
• Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Support opening and closing clinic procedures and maintain an organized, welcoming front office.

Clinical Care & Provider Support 

• Greet, room, and prepare patients for appointments.
• Complete patient intake, obtain vital signs, and document information accurately in the EMR.
• Perform point-of-care testing (strep, flu, RSV, COVID, hemoglobin, etc.).
• Administer vaccines safely and accurately while monitoring for adverse reactions.
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during patient visits and procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms while maintaining infection prevention and control standards.
• Support medication refills, referrals, patient recalls, and other clinical follow-up activities.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Team Collaboration & Clinic Operations 

• Rotate between front office and clinical responsibilities based on daily staffing and patient volume.
• Provide cross-coverage to ensure efficient clinic operations and an exceptional patient experience.
• Collaborate closely with providers and teammates to improve workflows and patient satisfaction.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
• Serve as a positive ambassador for the clinic's mission, vision, and values.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred. 
• BLS certification required
• 1+ year of experience in a medical assistant or patient-facing healthcare role.
• Comfort navigating electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to be cross-trained.
