Job Purpose:
The Pharmacy Operations Supervisor leads 20–25 Pharmacy Technicians in Manual Dispensing within a high-volume mail order pharmacy, ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication fulfillment through coaching, quality oversight, workflow planning, and team engagement.
In partnership with Pharmacy and Operations Leadership, this role supports staffing, workflow, performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who develops talent, promotes accountability, and prioritizes patient safety.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 20–25 licensed Pharmacy Technicians, supporting performance, engagement, career growth, onboarding, and retention.
- Oversee daily Manual Dispensing operations to meet safety, quality, service, productivity, and throughput goals.
- Monitor staffing, workflow, volume, and operational risks; prioritize work and allocate resources to support business needs.
- Partner with the Pharmacist Supervisor, Pharmacy Leadership, HR, Quality, Training, and Operations teams to support employee relations, planning, and cross-functional execution.
- Promote patient safety, regulatory readiness, and quality excellence by monitoring metrics, supporting audits and investigations, and driving corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar methods to improve accuracy, efficiency, engagement, and patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Indiana Pharmacy Technician License in good standing; National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of pharmacy operations experience in retail, specialty, health system, mail order, fulfillment, high-volume, or manual dispensing pharmacy environments.
- 2+ years of experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supervising employees.
- Experience managing workflow, staffing, productivity, quality metrics, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to develop teams, drive engagement, and support operational performance through strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift, move, and transport up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a pharmacy production environment with frequent movement.
