Meta is seeking an experienced individual to lead our regional data center community development team. This role will drive cross-functional alignment across site selection, operations, policy, communications, and public affairs teams to advance community development initiatives. The Regional Director will lead and manage a team of community engagement managers while serving as a critical internal connector ensuring company priorities are reflected in regional local community strategies.

Regional Director of Community Engagement Responsibilities:

  1. Regional Director of Community Engagement supports our community engagement strategy, driving short- and long-term community affairs initiatives in data center communities in a particular geographic area
  1. Serve as internal advocate for community interests, proactively building relationships across cross-functional partners to ensure community engagement priorities are represented in infrastructure planning and decision-making
  1. Lead and manage a team of community engagement managers, providing strategic direction, coaching, and accountability for developing, coordinating, and implementing community affairs initiatives across regional data center markets
  1. Develop strategies to build a broader profile and reputation for the company in assigned data center communities
  1. Build and enhance external relationships with a variety of stakeholders and elected officials and staff
  1. Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams — including site selection, public policy, communications, legal, and data center operations — to align company and infrastructure goals with local community strategies and advance them at the market level
  1. Monitor local community needs and report back to leadership with regular cadence with risks to larger business goals
  1. Lead integrated planning across External Affairs by driving alignment on communications, events, and project initiatives — ensuring community engagement is embedded in broader cross-functional strategies
  1. Travel domestically and internationally as needed (up to 75%)

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 15+ years of relevant experience in public affairs, nonprofit management, government relations, economic development or public facing engagement
  1. Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, external affairs, business field, or equivalent practical experience
  1. Experience with nonprofit grants, donation, and corporate social responsibility planning
  1. Experience to communicate and work with highly confidential information
  1. Experience with communication, organizational and program management skills, with the experience to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  1. Experience collaborating and building productive cross-functional and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  1. Experience with local and state policy and legislative processes. Experience with understanding of legislative proceedings and planning at a local level

Public Compensation:

$231,000/year to $291,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
