Senior Software Engineer - (React / Node.js)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer with 7+ years of professional software development experience to join our engineering team. This role requires a strong hands-on engineer who excels in modern web application development, frontend architecture, API development, and production support.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication, leadership, and ownership skills. They will work closely with technical leads, product stakeholders, architects, and fellow engineers to design, build, troubleshoot, and support enterprise-scale applications.

This position is heavily focused on React, Node.js, Micro Frontends, APIs, and modern web technologies, requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on coding experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using React and Node.js.
• Build reusable and maintainable frontend components and application frameworks.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js.
• Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and solution planning.
• Develop and support applications following Micro Frontend architectural patterns.
• Work with event-driven architectures and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, technical leads, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and application performance issues.
• Lead or actively participate in troubleshooting calls, root-cause analysis, and incident management activities.
• Ensure high-quality code through unit testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment pipelines.
• Champion accessibility (A11y) standards and responsive design practices.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical leadership when needed.
• Drive continuous improvements in development practices, tooling, automation, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience developing modern web applications.
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
• Strong experience with: React, Node.js, HTML5, CSS3, RESTful APIs and MongoDB
• Experience designing and implementing scalable frontend architectures.
• Deep understanding of component-based application design.
• Strong knowledge of state management patterns (Redux, Context API, etc.).
• Proven experience developing backend APIs using Express.js or similar Node.js frameworks.
• Strong understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization.
• Experience working with Micro Frontend architectures.
• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and event-based integrations.
• Strong understanding of package management using npm and Node ecosystem best practices.
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
• Strong debugging and application troubleshooting skills.

Testing & Quality Engineering

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong quality engineering practices including:

• Unit testing using:  Vitest, Jest, React Testing Library
• Frontend and API test automation.
• Test-driven development (TDD) or similar quality-focused methodologies.
• Code coverage and quality analysis tools.
• Experience maintaining highly reliable production systems.

Accessibility & User Experience

Required experience with:

• Web Accessibility (WCAG / A11y)
• Semantic HTML
• Responsive Web Design
• Cross-browser compatibility
• CSS architecture and maintainability
• Performance optimization techniques

Production Support & Operational Excellence

Candidates should have proven experience:

• Supporting mission-critical applications.
• Leading production incident calls.
• Performing root cause analysis and problem resolution.
• Monitoring application health and performance.
• Working with observability and logging platforms.
• Driving operational stability and reliability improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large enterprise environments.
• Experience with Micro Frontends using Module Federation or similar technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Experience with containerization and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering concepts.
• Experience building internal platforms, shared frameworks, or reusable component libraries.

Tech Stack Focus: React, TypeScript, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, REST APIs, Micro Frontends, Event-Driven Architecture, Jest, Vitest, npm, CI/CD, HTML, CSS, Accessibility (A11y).

Shift Timings - 11 AM - 8 PM.

Location - Chennai.

Experience - 7 - 10 Years

Location expectations 
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
