Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Geotechnical/Materials Testing team, of the Earth & Environmental sector, based in Ottawa, ON office.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Supervision of drilling and soil sampling
- Preparation of borehole logs and borehole location plan in AutoCAD
- Carry out shallow and deep foundation evaluations and reviews
- Monitor groundwater elevations and sampling
- Monitoring site grading activities (including limited surveying)
- In-situ soil density and compaction
- Concrete, mortar, and grout sampling and testing
- Asphalt sampling and testing
- Work closely with contractors, consultants and municipal personnel
- The successful applicant may also be trained to provide support in the concrete and soils lab
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or diploma in Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist
- Minimum 5 years (technician/technologist) or 2 years (EIT) of relevant experience, preferably from a consulting engineering office environment
- Working knowledge of MTO, CSA, CCIL, and ASTM procedures is preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license and the possibility to travel throughout Southern Ontario job sites are also required (upon mileage and expense reimbursement)
- Strong written and communication skills

The salary range for this role is between $62k - $82k. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
