A day in the life.

Reporting to the Managing Consultant within the Retirement & Wealth team, The Retirement Consultant at MMA will be responsible for servicing existing or prospective clients. This role works alongside the Marsh & McLennan Agency sales team in their efforts to retain existing clients and secure new retirement business. In this position, the employee will gain a strong foundation in all aspects of the retirement consulting business, equipping them to grow within the practice and the company.

The Retirement Consultant will be relied upon for insight and broad knowledge of retirement plans for clients, specifically clients who have a formal retirement or investment committee structure.   The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where they can align a client’s long-term business strategies with their retirement plan options. Essential Job Functions:

  • Apply broad industry knowledge to service existing clients and land new clients

  • Manage ongoing service needs of multiple clients

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of Retirement plans including design features, service providers, costs, investments, compliance and participant behavior, etc.

  • Conduct quarterly investment reviews, present fiduciary concepts and industry topics in a formal setting to a client’s senior leadership team.

  • Assimilate industry and competitor benchmarking data and analyze plan design to develop objective recommendations that best fit the client’s objectives

  • Engage in RFP activities to effectively plan, assess and make recommendations, on provider selection, investment strategy & development, and plan conversion to the client

  • Provide on-going/customized investment advisory service and support, problem resolution, plan design review, investment strategy, education, regulatory and legislative updates, etc.

  • Act as liaison between client and retirement plan service providers to achieve optimal results

  • Become well-versed in all of Marsh McLennan Agency’s practices to articulate our services and value proposition to existing and prospective clients

Requirements:

  • FINRA Series 65 or 66 licensure required within 120 days of being hired

  • Four (4) or more years of industry/applicable experience with bachelor’s degree and strong technical expertise in retirement plan design/administration.  Direct consulting experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply and expand broad industry knowledge to effectively service and advise existing and future clients

  • Excellent communication skills, including advanced writing and presentation skills

  • Strong industry knowledge regarding service providers, plan design, industry trends, etc.

  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to express ideas clearly, both in written and oral communication

  • Comfortable presenting in group environment, both in person and virtually

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage projects amidst competing deadlines

  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail

Preferred Experience & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite (emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint) with strength in analyzing and synthesizing data.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus

  • Knowledge of Zoom, Webinar, and video conferencing skills

  • CEBS or AIF® Certification or equivalent experience preferred

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to use computer keyboard and sit in a stationary position for extended periods.

  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment, during core office hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time).

  • Expectation to work in the office four (4) days per week.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $89,500 to $166,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
